the '59 caddy was a 'go thru' to make it road worthy again, the '57 chevy was a victim of an engine fire, our body shop did the metal/paint work, and I did the mechanical repairs. the rest of them were in for normal stuff, oil changes and inspections and what-not. just thought you all would dig seeing some of the old tin I see in a new car dealer in the rust belt.

That's cool, glad to see you get to work on some vintage stuff. I work in a Ford dealer, I'm a parts guy on the back counter. We rarely get anything in older than say about 97, but I've had a couple of early-mid sixties cars in..course, I get to find parts for them..:D

That's awesome its good to see your dealer will take in cars like that. The one I work at will turn those down and and take in some 90's to early 2000's heap and then complain because it has alot of problems and keeps coming back. I really like that 39 Woody wagon I have only seen one down here and the owner will not sell.

If one of those cars belonged to me, I'd have the dealerships ass. And, ...I wonder what would happen after that conversation?

All great cars...the deuce 5-window looks like the twin to my 3-window and I love the 32 stocker also. Thanks

  7. This is great to see. What this says is that the word has gotten out that you know how to handle this work. A lot of line mechanics stay away from anything different, fearing they can't make the rate on them.

Okay I tried to hold back. I've screwed around with old cars since 1956. I can't remember ever taking one to a dealership! After all, we are car guys right? In fact the only time one of my cars has been in any car shop was to get tires, glass, or AC work.

Looks like the Chevy crowd are the ones to take care of old Fords, hahaha
good to see there are still real mechanics out there who can actually work on cars, other than uploading updates for computers.

Have fun guys. If you don't understand privacy, no amount of responses on my part will ever make you understand.

    Again, ...have fun.

I in no way meant to infringe on anyone's privacy with these pics, matter of fact, most of the cars belong to the owner of the dealership, and the pics are a few years old. I figured the pics didn't really show enough detail to 'peg' it to any individual owner, and I wanted to share the fact that even though I work on new cars for a living, several cool cars roll into my work bay. And most of them have probably been seen at local car shows. I gave it a lot of thought before I posted them. If I have offended, I apologize, and if you should own one pictured and object, I will remove it.

Nice post , thanks for sharing these.
I used to service a Chevy dealership in Las Vegas that the owner had a part of the dealership that did nothing but restore old Chevys for his collection . He wanted to have one of every year and model that Chevy ever made and was well on his way to doing it! Had over a hundred fully restored Chevys , only a few people ever even knew about his collection , fewer still ever saw it. I also serviced the "Race car" part of the dealership that was his sons "toy", mostly off road desert type stuff, he is the one who let me go look at the Ol' mans cars . WOW!!------- what a day that was .

I'm the 'old car guy' at a Chevy dealer in the heart of GM town, USA. Anything older than about 1987 and I get all the questions. Parts changers these days simply cannot make old stuff work. Glad to hear I'm. It the only one.

Knowing these cars from the dealership's weekly Tv advertising, I really doubt they'd mind if the pictures are out there online... Kind of a strange thing to get upset about
