I did a search and I have been looking on Google some but haven't had a lot of luck. My project 1963 Fairlane 500 2dr hardtop sacrificed its battery tray to the acid gods and some of the sub structure under it as well. I am just looking to replace the tray quickly in the interest of getting it running and then coming back later for a more complete repair. Can you all tell me a good place to locate the tray and hold down? If not new does it share its tray with another car like a falcon, Galaxie? Or mustang. I don't have enough left to go my measurements or looks so I need the HAMB's Help. Thanks in advance.
Thanks. Any idea of a good reproductions source? What I have now looks like this. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Their ad is written badly. The main subject heading says: 1963 FORD FAIRLANE 63/65 Falcon Battery Tray (6 Cyl. With AC) which I think it means that it fits both your car and 63/65 Falcons with A/C. The important part is that it fits a group 24f battery. A/C on the early cars usually gave you a bigger battery. Which is why the Falcon is noted since is uses a larger than normal battery when A/C equipped. Your Fairlane may have the same parts as this pic (from a 65 Falcon): which indicates that tray is pretty close. Can't help you with the stabilizer bracket, but that's an easy fab.
I understand I think. But if I am looking at that picture correctly it would mount the battery so that the terminals form a line parallel to the fender. In my car they should form a line parallel to the front if the car. Now I just need to determine if I have enough structure under it to bolt it in. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It's been a long time since my Dad bought a 63 Fairlane for our family new, so I'm hazy on how the battery fits. Ha. If you want to mount it parallel to the front, then the early Mustangs did it that way.
Yeah that looks like the orientation that came out of the car. At least what I can determine with the remnants. Thanks for helping me so much with this. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
If there are any 63 fairlane owners out there can someone send me a picture of the battery, and the surrounding area? Thanks trying to figure out what this area should look like stock. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
im going to my local junk yard tomorrow. they have plenty of 63 fairlanes if i find one with a battery tray in good shape ill take a picture and send it to your post
On a V8 the battery is sideways, long side to the rad support. If you aren't running the generator which sticks way out to the side it doesn't really matter which way the battery is mounted. With an alternator tucked tight to the engine the rad becomes the next closest point and you can run a wider rad with the battery mounted long side to the fender.
Thanks for even thinking of it. It's the thought right. I sure wish I had a junk yard near me with several 1963's I am having trouble finding even one. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

A Price would be great. I have a mustang Battery Tray on order from summit that I think I can make work but having the really thing would be even better. I am going to call a local guy as well that is parting a 1962 as well. Thanks again.
Call them get a price, ill go there haggle them and if you want i can ship it to you, you just gotta find a way to pay we can pm and talk more Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I called them and they said $40 and $15 for shipping. I am supposed to get my Mustang one in about a day I will see how it looks and get back to you if I need the real deal.
Mustang might be a better bet as it uses a handle style battery hold down with J hook bolts. Its getting hard to find a battery with the protrusions on the ends for that style hold down
Thanks so much for the tip on the crites site. That looks like a great option. Also seems like Melvin's classic part in Georgia has a reproduction run from time to time. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
