Ryan you let the cat out of the bag yourself on this one. I saw this about a month ago when you linked a fuel tv video I think, I was going to mention it but figured you didn't know about it.

I remember finding the JJ in 1998, and the only thing I wanted to see was more Readers Rides...wow...15 years ago...

I figured it would take quite a bit of alcohol and/or drugs to get you to sit still in from of a camera for more than a snapshot.
Its cool to hear where the JJ came from and especially where the Hokey Ass Message Board got its name.
It's great to be a part of the HAMB 'Evolution'. Thanks Ryan for taking the Leap!

Nice little insight to how all this began. I thought the interview was just fine.

  16. Probably a better honest video in the state you were in. Ill have to save that one with the HGTV show you and your wife did.

I hope you are taking the time to fill in your knowledge gap between Don Montgomery and the French 34........lots of good stuff happened there, and some of it was traditional, or at least traditional influenced..... with improvements.

Too bad they are sometimes called street rods.

  18. Nice interview Ryan. I thought you were allergic to camera's.

The Ramblers at the first HAMB drags were epic. Hidden NOS, antifreeze dump, and all.

So when are you going to change the name of the HAMB?

  19. All I can say is thanks Ryan.

Which brings to mind, when IS the actual birthday of the HAMB? I remember reading there was a down time for some reason, but barring that, what's the date? Who was the first poster besides Ryan?

How do you get into the archives? I did it a loooong time ago, but it was by accident.

Seems like an anniversary t shirt is in order.

I think you & the H.A.M.B./TJJ had a lot to do with that [the traditional hot rod renaissance]. If found TJJ in 1997-98, been hooked ever since.

I always wondered who Ryan was.....he's a kid !! but it sounds like there is alot of experience cramed in there some where . Oh wait so am I ! I heard about this sight and the Hamb drags in 08, went in 09. It was like a time warp. I remember going to some early70's hot rod shows with my older brother and thats what it reminds me of. Hell I would go just for the Friday night at the motel/convention center parking lot scene ! And the HAMB has been a great tool when you get stuck and can't figure it out. So thanks for this web site !!

Cool video. I always wanted to ask, with all due respect and reverance, if Ryan knew that the HAMB would become such a huge, respected source of tech information, show coverage, and entertainment, would he have chosen a better name for it? Now I know.

I can think of a lot worse names than "HOKEY ASS MESSAGE BOARD" glad to be a part of the movement! Nothing wrong with lack of sleep and some adult beverage's! It's just like wrenching in the wee hours before the "BIG SHOW"! I seen the picture's so I guess it did really happen! Thanks for the post!
