WillyNilly - When you sit in a stock 38-47 Ford COE (with the engine up front), you quickly find there is very limited leg room and even the stock steering column is offset by a few inches.
Thanks for the clarification. Would it be feasible to install a 6BT in it and narrow the dog house instead to get the room? I have a few ideas floating around in my head. One of my plans is to get an NPR and replace the cab with an older COE and run the diesel. It's also under the rear of the cab, but looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to do.
Willy- I've been considering the same NPR build concept. PM me if you ever get started down that road. Corvette, your build continues to impress me. Your attention to detail is inspiring. Keep up the good work!
I know people have used the Isuzu NPRs, and I bought one for my project. I ended up not using it because the track width was too narrow for the Autocar and it had odd wheel sizes. (15.5s on 5 hole rims front, 17.5s on6 hole rears) I ended up with Dodge 1 ton dually axles under an International S series frame. (13 lettered shit spreader)
have made a die for the tail lights i am going to use (65 impala) and this is a test stamp i did then made 3 in a row still need to staighten it here an there
Since you widened your front fenders, are there any issues with the doors hitting the fenders when opening? Just curious.
uhh ?? actualy i didnt thought abouth that. just checked it out and i am lucky it doesnt hit, i should'nt went much wider then it would have been an issue and i have attached some more wood
No Possible Repair Back to the build; I like the tail light thing you did, makes your truck individual. Anybody can dial 1-800-buy-shit, not everyone can build a punch and die set.
I think he is referring to one of these modern LCF commercial trucks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_Elf
made some more progress on the wood, and started making a border for around the edge. 2 long pieces made the corners wil be next
well i have been playing with some wood agian and its getting along. made one corner , and got all the wood bolted down on the ramp
and i am not even a wood man thanks ! i am going to use 4 wheel straps, each strap will attach to 2 D-rings i figure that should be enough ? but plans can change along the way
today was test fit day after this i have changed the rear wheel opening folowing the contour of the rear fender, and attached the fender to it.
I just found this thread this morning. Read thru the whole thing. Very nice. Did you use self-tapping screws into the tubing to hold the bed wood? Thanks, Tony
That looks good. How much did the rear suspension settle with the cars weight? Did you drive it or winch it up? (I see a battery in one photo)
I've winched it up, I had lowered the. Rear suspension by 2.5 inch Before the ramp and wood was added so it already leaned over a little at the back. So i will restore its height close to what it was probably
In case it hasn't been mentioned....You do excellent work. I'm not sure if "craftsman" really does your skill justice!
