We lost another one this last week (HemiGeorge) George Chatterton

    Just wanted to let anyone who knew George Chatterton (HemiGeorge), drag racer from the 60's and 70's, member of the Road Knights of Dayton, Ohio. Passed away suddenly last Tuesday June 11th, 2013.:( He will be missed!!

    A copy of his up coming funeral obituary is shown below.
    =======================================================
    George H. Chatterton Jr., age 78, of Centerville, OH passed away on
    Tuesday June 11, 2013.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Dorothy Chatterton
    formerly of Centerville, OH; son, Wesley Chatterton of Dayton, OH; and
    sister, Donna Lee Ford of Batavia, OH.

    George is survived by his children, Chris (Connie) Chatterton Centerville,
    OH, Rusty (Lori) Chatterton of Kettering, OH, Randy (Terri) Chatterton of
    Beavercreek, OH, and George III (Rachelle) Chatterton of Escondido, CA;
    11 loving grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great-
    granddaughter; and special friend, Patricia O’Mary.

    George was a past president of the Road Knights Car Club and track
    manager at Kil-Kare Dragway in the early 1960's. He was an initial
    inductee into the Kil-Kare Dragway Hall of Fame in 2009.

    Visitation is Tuesday June 18, 2013 from 4pm to 8pm at the Newcomer
    Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH.

    Graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday June 20, 2013 at 3pm
    at David’s Cemetery, Kettering, OH

    Sad to hear....he was definently one of a kind and someone you had to meet in person...kinda shocked me when he finally got on the atari....:D god speed

  9. Knew George in the 70's. Seems he had a chaneled '32 roadster fenderless car. One of the mags did a feature on chaneled east vs chaneled west.

    I always looked forward to saying hello to George whenever I would see him. Sorry to hear of his passing.

    Timwhit, wasn't his 32 fenderless roadster featured in a magazine? With my deepest sympathies to the family and friends. God Bless You Always George!

    bought some parts from George last year, He was a super nice guy, talked on the phone several times, he invited me up to see him, sorry I didn't make it. Prayers sent for his family. RIP, and GODSPEED George.

    What a cool guy. Always kind to me. Dad knew him since '63. RIP. Met you at his visitation. Hope you enjoyed our burnout in his honor leaving the funeral. - Matt

    So sad to hear of George's passing - I bought a Willys chassis from him in 2009 and spoke with him several times. An absolute Gentleman and old school hot rodder. RIP George....

    I just got back from vacation and heard the unfortunate news.
    I allways enjoyed talking wheels and cars with George.
    We've done some wheel deals over the years.

    Sincere condolences go out to his family.
    RIP GEORGE
