Hi guys, I know a little about the Y block and have a a 59 292 i'm gonna build shortly for a project, I put the word out I was looking for some G heads and got a call from a guy that had some, when i got there he had some other parts to get rid of too, I ended up buying all of it but don't know anything about the aluminium timing cover and aluminium water pump, neither have been used and look to be nice pieces but I don't know where they have come from ???
Anybody shed any light on them ???
Here are some pics, plus pics on the other stuff I bought while I was there :D

Definition of BODACIOUS. 1. Southern & Midland: outright, unmistakable. 2: remarkable, noteworthy <a bodacious bargain> 3: sexy, voluptuous <bodacious babes>

Not to hijack, but does anybody know if 312 would have used a rope rear main seal or the neoprene one? Have a 56 Bird with 312 and leaking rear main. Can I replace the rope with a neoprene if it has the rope? The engine has been recently rebuilt (under 10 hrs running) and the rear seal leaks.

  7. 312 uses a rope seal although there are a few companies that are making neoprene. Stay away from Best, they leak.

No, the 2 cranks are different sizes. Some 312 blocks will NOT accept a neoprene seal, check Y-Blocks Forever for more info.
