I am one of those old Willys lovers from way back in the very early 60's. I need help... I am looking for my '41 Willys coupe named "MouseTrap" sold it in the early '70's in Southern California and would like to find it and possibly buy it back. She made it in Popular Hot Rodding magazine in 1969. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I miss her a lot! I know she probably doesn't look like this any longer, but I will follow any and all leads. You can contact me at [email protected] Thanks in advance.
What I'd find interesting is why you let it go. There are some mighty fine reasons for selling a car but yours looks like it would have been better stored away to become a "barn find" when interest was renewed. Care to share the story? Frank
I would guess by the 70's it was an old race car. Times were changing. The car was outdated. A 40 Willys was not always made of gold. A Nova or Mustang was the car to compete with.
Somebody has to know something about the mouse trap. That car is unforgettable. Good luck finding it.
Usually people sell things like this because they could use the money. If I kept everything I had after I was tired of it or needed the money for something else I'd need a football sized field for storage. Ken
How about giving us some more info on the car. Like... Where you sold it? Who you sold it too? When did you loose track of it? Man that would be a great car to reunite with hopefully it didn't turn into a Prosreet or something like that... Jay
Everyone seems to want to know why I sold it... well, it is relatively simple. I had a wife and two kids and my wife and I were having a little trouble, I thought it would be better for me to sell the race car and build a '29 Ford roadster so we could do more things together as a family... wrong! She divorced me a year or so afterwards anyway and the car was by then long gone. There was so much happening back then I do not remember details of the sale or who I actually sold it to. Hell, that is 42 years ago! I think I sold it to someone in Camarillo, CA. Anyway, I sold the engine separately and kept the transmission.. an Art Carr reverse pattern 727 Torqueflite. That is the only thing I still have can you believe that? I could probably build a clone for a whole lot cheaper than what it might cost to buy back the car, but there is something about owning the original car... you know? A lot of memories.
There have been a heap of "lost" cars that've been found thanks to the power of the H.A.M.B. It's probably a pro street trailer queen by now tho. Good luck with the search. Scotty
I posted my request for our yellow '57 210 sold in Philly here: http://the-lost-car-registry.com/index.php haven't heard a word, but it made me feel better. Hope yours comes back!
Tell us something about the big block motor!... Was it a stock L-88 with the Hilborn intake???... Inquirering minds (like mine) would love to know...
