That would be a fitting end to him---I live in the Dallas area. Folks around here think the daily commute is a Nascar race.

I'd have it bumped and primed already. Looks like an easy fix. Most insurance companies will let you fix your own car. Last fix I did only cost me paint, but the repair bill written by them was $1700. I bought a Model A PU with the check, worked on for several nights and got it running. Count the positives, forget the negatives, AND it's black. Easy repair too. Is it done yet?

Well, that sure would ruin my day. No doubt about it. As mentioned, glad your OK, get it fixed and keep driving the piss out it! FYI...I run my 54 at 65-70 without any hesitation. As a matter of fact I just ran it 600 miles round trip driving it that fast. It does have a three speed with a PG ring/pinion. Can't really say the gas mileage it respectable though...LOL!
I'm going to fall right in line here as well. My ol' '54 Pontiac (Cdn - with the flathead six) used to sing right along at about 63 m.p.h.. That sweet spot is really where you want to be with any vehicle if possible as it makes a real difference. That being said, I too am glad the accident(!) wasn't worse than it was, as there seems to be no end to rude, unthinking, dangerous drivers out there! Yeah.....my old flathead 6 Plymouth only likes to go about 55 or so. If I try to run it much faster with the bias ply tires (the steering is a little loose) it makes me kinda nervous. To hold the rear end down where it doesn't feel so light and skittery, I put two 60 pound tubes of sand in the trunk---right behind the rear seat, Gives a little heavier feel, but doesn't affect speed or anything else. I had radial tires for a while and they made it handle better.... thinking of getting another set. On two lane roads, I watch in the rear view mirror to see how many cars are lined up behind me. Then from time to time I pull onto the shoulder to let them pass. Glad your mishap wasn't any worse.
Yeah this is all good but I still don't understand why your dad moved up on your right when all this other shit was going on, he should have been backing off not passing IMO but then maybe he was being crowded from behind, I don't know, I wasn't there. Just glad that the end result was just a few minor scrapes and dents rather than a possible much worse outcome.
Looking at that quarter again, A rubber mallet would pop out most of those two bigger dents. Work out the wrinkles with a body hammer and or slapping file. The dent up top has a good crease, but will come out easy enough. Geese! gets the old juice flowing again, it's a sickness!
Well, I put my old wheels and tires back on yesterday. She is headed to the body shop in the morning....... M-
