The first one here appears to be the Garrett Winery, more commonly known as the Virginia Dare Winery on Foothill Blvd. (Route 66) in Rancho Cucamonga area.
The photos of the motorcycles was taken in 1973. That's my Sportster and a friend's Honda 750.
It's now a disgusting strip mall.

Love the panel. Is that 8 track tapes they are selling "Tapes unlimited"

  7. Are you asking where this pic is? I'm not positive because it's been so long, but it looks like the remains of an old winery that used to stand out near Ontario, CA.

Awesome pics. Really "took me back". Thanks for sharing.

I hope that Fontana Closed sign made it to someone's garage wall...

A bit of history about those grandstands at Fontana. In August of 1964 when the oval dirt track known as Western Speedway in Gardena was being torn down the Los Angeles Times reported the grandstands were sold and taken to Fontana dragstrip. It is possible some of these grandstands had history at the oval track of Culver City in the early 1950s before that track was torn down in 1954 and some stands were taken to Gardena Stadium when that track was built in late 1954. Gardena Stadium changed its name to Western Speedway in 1960. It's a little complicated but a little history lesson never the less. I wonder if the grandstands had a life after Fontana?

Mazooma, do you know if this was the Taco Lita on the corner of White Ave & Mission Blvd?

Must be....there is another one in Arcadia and the one in San Gabriel closed decades ago.
I know this is not the Arcadia one and from the lettering on the panel, it's a good assumption that it's the Pomona one.

  28. Good stuff. I love candid shots from this era because I was running around back then and it brings back lots of memories.
