This Willy's is the AA/GS of Paul Frost. Later the brains behind the "Billy the Kid" Pro Stockers. Car Craft Mag "High Risers" said of him ' Paul is considered one of the top 3 engine builders in Drag Racing and you can pick the other 2'

Does anyone remember the Dragcraft racing equipment AA/GD out of Cleveland? Ted Grucza, Howie Davis, Bob Thomas, Paul Kelm. Raced mostly Quaker city, Milan, Norwalk, National Trail. Mid to late sixties? No front body, purple cowl and side panels with gold leaf lettering. Long chassis around 196" I believe. Hemi & Keith Black 3 disc slipper.

You can tell that it was a cold day too as noted by the bundled up spectators. As I might have mentioned before, we showed up at Irwindale once to watch my neighbor race his jr. fueler. Also in attendance were a few D/GD inliners: Maybe 4. Its rare to have seen so that many in one day at what was just an atypical Saturday and not a national. My neighbor had nothing but priase for those willing to flog a inliner motor where there was little R&D from which to draw from, unlike a guy running a SBC.

Yes, I know it's O/T, but Pistol Pete Maravich's family was also from Aliquippa, PA. JMO, but the most talented basketball player ever, past & present. :D:D:D

Hillbillys garage was just a block from my house and Ray Christans shop was a mile down the road behind Central Point shopping center. Green Gables was around the corner where we all cruised in our cars. Hillbilly and Ray ran at Trails and Hyde Park in heath Ohio. They both did very well in their classes. Hillbilly in his olds and Ray in his SS Dodges. I remember Hillbilly always had a few tricks up his sleeves if you know want i mean. If he had sleeves. And Ray worked magic on transmissions.

Love this shot for the "hidden" Town & Country behind the Rod Shop car.

Crider held record in C/D powered with small block Chevy in the early 60's. His hemi car was the A/SR of Rod Shop fame and sponsored out of Sam Brown Dodge in Salem Ohio. Crider lived near Alliance Ohio and I think he still does live in that area. He may have run a Hemi dragster later but i dont know? Heres pix of the A/SR

OK -- Just found a pic of Crider's Super Bee Hemi Dragster at Dallas 1969 prior to the Street Roadster.

Heres Crider's Super Bee Dragster - 1969 Dallas pic --- This was before the "pro-stock" A/Street Roadster sponsored by Sam Brown Dodge in Salem Ohio. He also raced one of those ill-fated 65 D-darts in D/Stock class.

This just happens to be the car you were referring to in post #168 a few boards back ---
Its the 68 Chesrown Hurst Olds that was driven by Ron Garey and was found a few years ago by a columbus guy that is restoring it to its race day look.
Funny that you just mentioned the "found car" and then post it up!!

The D- Darts were actually 66's not 65's --- Read all about this factory race car at this link:

    Enjoy
