Big event in part because George Lucas was there. Was a Hot day - 110 degrees at 5PM. Hundreds of entrants and thousands of people. If you want more info on car show this weekend and more: www.visitmodesto.com/calendar/specialevents/graffiti/calendar.asp
I was there with my '63 Cadillac for the downtown deal on Friday. It was great to see the cars on the street, even though it was still 100° at 8:00. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Saturday we just got there and found a shady place to park. My sister brought her '62 Lincoln out, & we made a day of it. My daughter was loving it! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I don't see anything that would let me know it had anything to do with American Graffitti.....except George lucas. The 55 looks like the only car that payed trubite to the movie. Might have been a good show, but I would have been disapointed if I drove all the way to Modesto. Just my opinion...
yep, George Lucas had a little bit to do with making a movie about his experiences living in Modesto. the name of parade held on Friday: Official Kiwanis Classic Car Parade. the official name of car show Sat & Sun: American Graffiti Car Show & Festival. if you took the time to travel to Modesto you would have had to do more than being part of a special parade, in part to Thank Mr. Lucas for what he did. there are Graffiti related events through out the month. I do not live there, and not part of the many groups and volunteers involved in doing all of this
Not a movie tribute show, thank god. How cliche' would that be? Not to mention boring. Quite a few other cars in the movie besides the "hero" cars, Bob. There's a handful of shit at any show, but with 1,200+ entries there was something for everyone. Having said that, I probably wouldn't have been willing to take the drive from SoCal either. Very cool car pictures and I love the Plymouth drag car on the truck. Thanks for posting all the great shots. Jimbo
OT request: did you take a picture of a green 70 Challenger convertible with two boys riding on the boot? That is my brother in law, his lady and their grandkids. could you post it so I can get them a copy? Thanks!
