Is my distributor bad?

I'm swapping my distributor over to a new block and noticed this doesn't look too hot...
How bad is this? Can I reuse this distributor?

What are your misgivings? I don't see anything critical.

 

I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Is that a crack or casting flash? It seems fine to me.

 

It'll be fine. That just looks like a casting flaw. The width of the diameter isn't so important as the machined diameter itself...that's what locates the body of the distributor. You might give it a light grinding or filing just to smooth the rough edges, but even that isn't necessary. One thing you wanna check is the condition of the bushings. Check to see if you can wiggle the shaft that goes through the distributor at all. If you can, it could use new bushings. If not, I'd use the dist with no worries.

Ya, it's just a rough casting. No big deal.

 

What's up top? 1949 Lincolns only apparently got a Delco with a real centrifugal/vacuum advance, later ones '50-51. got the wretched Holly Loadamatic.

 

Nope. I agree its fine just a casting flaw that is superficial.
