Went to day-91+ degrees. Waled 7.3 miles on my pedometer. There were about the same number of cars it seemed as the last few years, and enough good rods to balance the few odd balls, outakes and rats. My favorite "bad" car had two blown motors-but only the rear one appeared to be connected to a drive shaft. Fun. I was mostly looking for cool cars in general, model A interiors specifically and saw enough of both. But the vendors! Man, that is embarrassing. Huge gaps everywhere and the ladies crafts were where hot rod guys used to sell. Jet Hot, Macs, Garret-Wade were nowhere to be found just to name a few. I'd heard that the venue had really raised proces-but it's so sad in there worse than 2008-I basically ended up inside just to cool down.
would it be allright for me to use your photos for my website and i will make sure that you get credit for them. Thanks Allen bluegras culver streator, illinois
That '40 Coupe project was $2,500 or best offer. Overall, the majority of cars are still street rods, but alot of '50s stuff caught my eye, so I have more pictures of them here.
Some good pics there, thaks for posting. I liked the 2 tone '49-50 merc, i've never seen one painted that way and it is a natural, it worked for me. thanks.
Really nice pics, Carl.......thanks for the peek! I could not make it so I went to a local show, which sucked......I left after about 2 hours of broiling heat on an asphalt parking lot....I won't go back.......ever..... CB
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! What the hell happened to the rolling attire on this beautiful old coupe. When it left the South it looked right. When it was in the PNW it looked right. It gets back to the east and it's got radials. Gross.
Yeah, that's a tough go with no shade. I wimped out in a local cruise that day. The twelfth pic down is Gary T's "A" roadster & Homemadehardtop's newly completed '32.
Anybody know anything, or have more pictures of this -32 Plymouth? (I have a -31 I build in similar style)
I understand that this was Friday but the attendance seems to be way down from the 70s. Are we all dieing off or is it the new car infiltration? I have not been in years. It's not he cars but the cost to drive up for one day. Too much for my cheap ass pocket book.
Tommy, It looked like the car count was down from back in the heyday, but vendor count was wayyyyyyyyyy down, even from last year. I can't complain too much about seeing some tri-5 Chevies, Shoebox Fords and a handful of other muscle cars that wouldn't have been there before the changes. It's still primarily a Street Rod/ Hot Rod event and as long as I can see stuff like Ken Gross' '32 Roadster with a blown Flathead I'll still keep going........................Don.
The announced registration number was 3490. It's been in that neighborhood for at least the past ten years, even before the 30 year rule. Some pre-48 owners are now bringing their 50's & 60's cars. There were more than 5,000 cars back in the 80's THANKS FOR THE PHOTOS !
