    Cheers boss,
Still trying to figure out what to do down the bottom at this stage. Would save money if I did welded it to the top of the sill and probably wouldn't be any worse off then doing it with a patch panel down to the bottom pinch weld.

Little bit of an update for today haven't done to much because I was working on my OT daily because I had neglected it a bit lately.

Got the drivers side pillar out, and welded up the old door handle holes on the new quarter for the passenger side.

Should have an update tonight after work . Been in the city all week for a training thing for work but got back late last night.

But I'm in need of the stainless mould (think its called belt mould?) that goes from the back of the front door along under the window to the back section. From what iv figured the pieces that wrap around under the back window on the 2 doors Are the same as the 4 doors?

Little update from last nights efforts. Cleaned up the parts on the drivers side where I cut the pillar out and welded a patch back in the top and made a patch for the sill, but had to wait for the por15 to dry that I put inside the sill. Also made a returned edge panle that attaches to the top of the sill and then comes up to meet the new quarter.

Little bit more of an update of today/tonight's efforts. Got the drivers side pillar tacked in and sill patch piece welded in, stripped and de-skinned the drivers side read door and chopped down to get ready for use as a quarter.
Got rid if some old lead and cleaned a lot of it up. And just got the number plate light and front indicators wired in.

Last night I was messing a round trying to figure out how to return the edge of the quarter to attach it to the pillar, I tried using the inner frame from the door on the opposite side but it wouldn't really look neat, so I made another right angle piece and shrink/stretched it to suit. Tacked it on and then sanded into the shape of the door.

I used the scrap piece that I cut off the door skin the other day to test how to do the edge. First attempt was by hand with a shifter and a hammer/dolly because I couldn't figure out how to use the bead roller to do it.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369695690.318567.jpg

But I couldn't get the edge sharp enough and it took all the shape out of the panel.

After some web searching on my phone I found out how to do the edge with the bead roller and it turned out way better

Shit, now you're making me jealous.

Here's some pics of the hammer form I made to do the fold on mine (though couldn't find the female half) 36mm ply cut on the bandsaw at work

Just put on a fender skirt to see how it looks with the two door treatment, should look better when it's all one color.

Looking so good, I wouldn't chop or take the beltine trim off, make it a cool cruiser.

Thanks guys, appreciate all the feedback!

Plan is to use the belt mould off of a Pontiac because its got the little "shark fin" on the back section. Just trying to work out if in need to modify the stuff iv got or buy whole new pieces.

I'm going to drive it for a year or so as is in primer but will eventually chop it unless I decide not to in the year of driving it, it won't be a huge chop probably 2-3 inches in the front an 3-4 in the back. But the plan all along has been to chop it and I think the roof looks to big and bulbous as it is.

Little bit of progress tonight, got it up on a chassis frame pretty much just to put it at a more comfortable working height, started tapping up where iv welded the quarter together, and cut out the rear part of the old door jamb and started getting that ready to attach the other quarter.

  27. Gidday Morgan, just found your thread tonight, don't know why it took me so long to find it, I have just started work on my 49 Chev, 2 door conversion, 4 inch chop at front, dual headlights, Corvette grille, extended rear guards with Corvette tail lights and Continental kit, 57 Chev instrument panel (American one not Aussie), I'll post a photoshopped pic when I work out how to. Are you going to extend the rear windows back into the C pillar like the 2 door sedan. My mate Rod (Fat141 on the HAMB) finished his 2 door conversion on his 52 4 years ago and he/I have the whole build of photos, way too many to put on here but they are out there on a site somewhere, I'll hunt them down. Cheers Rob

Awesome Rob. I actually met Rod with his 52 at the bright rod run about 2-3 years ago and he gave me lots of good advice, would love to see some pics, at this stage I'm not going to extend the rear windows because I'm going to chop it in a year or so and bring the back of the roof forward anyway, so I'm just doing like 90% of the two door conversion then gonna drive it for a while then il chop it and finish it off. It just gets a bit stale always having a project and never having a car to drive.
