    Hi everyone,
Does anybody have any experience with a cable operated clutch fork ? This is for a 621 bell housing SBC. This bell housing is an upgrade of the 403. 621 will take an 11" clutch kit, the 403 takes a 10 1/2". Correct me if I am wrong. I am trying to find a supplier for the fork and throwout bearing or retrofit an off the shelf fork. Any ideas ????

I did a cable set up on my 32 but used a scatter shield. Its a Chevy mill /trans.
I just bought a heavy duty fork that had the slot in it rather than the ball end, and used a rod end with a hardened bolt to pass through both.
It's a standard fork that can be bought through Summit, Jegs etc.
And the cable i had made for my application from a company that specialized in custom cables.
    Hope than made sense.

Done it in a '65 Mustang, (Total Performance said it couldn't be done...without their kit!)
We used 5.0 Mustang cable and fork...
It CAN be done. (not sure on Chevy part #s)
I'd look at a 5.0 Mustang, then some Chevy forks, geometry is bound to be similar.

Even better, see above...^^^^^ slow typing here...Good thinking, Tony!

Try NOVAK, or any of the big Corvette resto part joints, like Ecklers for instance, for the various forks. DD

    AND DO AN INTRO!

What kind of car is this going in??? Does it need to be cable operated?
Heres a pic of a clutch set up that I had found on the HAMB a while back.

    Amadeus,
I am already committed with the cable setup because it is for a SBF. Hydraulic setup would solve it in the SBC but I don't want to go to hydraulic because of the failure rate and hassle of fluid issues etc.

    Mike,
That is the stickler, the fork geometry and if one is found, will it install in the bell.....

    Tony,
That may be the way to go. If all else fails, fabricate it your self...
    Thanks

if you can figure out the pedal/ arm part, you can custom or a clutch cable for a Harley in any length!! Barnett cables are best...

Had a 75? Olds Star fire, 4-spd with a cable clutch. Pulling it into the garage one night and the cable snapped. Nearly went THROUGH the cinder block garage back wall. Stopped it time, tho. Had to change my underwear. :)

Yes, overkill would be a good thing in this case!
I just googled the words cable clutch "images" and came up with lots of suppliers and idea's. Thanks for the thread....................

  14. Check out pirate 4x4 site as the off-road guys use cable and Hyd. Setups all the time.

  15. What amadeus posted is NOT hydraulic,,it is a cable operated clutch.

Look at the 5.0 Mustangs,,I have the cable operated clutch in our '54 Ranch Wagon,,302/5 speed. HRP

Overkill would be an understatement for the cable i had made.
Its a 3/8ths dia inner cable with 700 lbs of pull, that could be used for a recovery cable on a tow truck. Lol
Safe to say it'll never break. :)
