63-65 Riviera pix?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hellfish, Dec 3, 2003.

  1. I've only driven it around my neighborhood so far. Maybe up to 35mph at best. I can tell it's a stiffer ride, but that's to be expected. I'm sure handling is better with the stiffer springs & lower cg. My only problem right now is tire to fender & frame rub at full lock, but I think that's just a tire size issue. Has 235/75's on it right now. Too big. Looking to buy some 215/75's soon.

Nice looking 63, by the way!

I don't know of this is sinful to ask this on this thread or about riv's in general. But has anyone ever done a sbc swap into one of these? Instead of dealing with a stuck nailhead...

Man, I need to stop reading this thread. One of the most beautiful cars ever built. Makes me want to go out and buy one!

    Matt,

Truly digging your ride..especially with the roadwheels! I am kind of doing the same with slamming my Rivi with the turbines/spinners. love it!

I used to have a '63 I got for the wife I used to have. I owned it from '83-'96. Looks all stock but I found a '65 GS for the taking, rebuilt the 425 dual quad with some extra go,and swapped out the 401 (that I put to very good use). Only sold it cuz I got burned by a home builder I got in deep with.

  20. Exactly. Someone referred to these as "The Bankers Hot Rod".

Subtle luxury. I need to start a build thread for the '63.

I finished mine last week, just in time for the Goodguys show in Colorado. I never would have imagined this, but I was chosen for a homebuilt award. I am shocked for sure.

my first Riviera was originally owned by a banker. when i bought it, it still had the "built expressly for:" tag intact, so i was able to track him down. it was pretty easy, not a lot of gentlemen named Baird Brinkemeyer in the world! he sent me am original picture of his brand new riviera parked in front of his place of business.
