Thought I'd do a quick build summary of my 28, It started with a poor picture and and an ending auction
    [IMG]
I won the auction and ended up driving to Northern Minnesota in february, and got loaded up

Once I got it home I squared it up on a stock A frame I had left over and proceeded to brace. Since it was a leatherback, it was missing some key ingredients to the roof. Mainly the back window, and the flange to attach side and back window frames to the body. I scratched my head for a bit then decided to make one. I started with a 90 degree bend then used shrinker stretcher to match the body contour. Once I had that I rolled a bead in it to somewhat simulate a stock bottom. Its not 100% but close enough. I also got a rear window from a sedan and grafted that in.

After It was resembling a roof it was time to chop

Then roll it outside to take a look.

I originally chopped it 4.5 inches, after looking at it for awhile I took another inch out.
After many hours of grinding and welding I finally got the body channelled 4 inches over the frame and mounted
    [IMG]
I didnt get a decklid, so a trip to the local scrap yard got me a roof off a 90's cavalier. A few hours with the shrinker and I had this

And after countless more hours, fitting a sbc and muncie, along with a 9 inch, and tackling more body work
    [IMG]
and this is where she is now

Since I started this I've wanted bias plys, and just ordered them today. I'll add the pic of them installed by the end of the week. So far I've got almost 1000 miles on it and it feels great to be driving it finally. Hopefully paint and interior this winter.

Pretty darn cool from where it started. Needs an inch higher in the tail :)...maybe the bias will do it.

Looks great. Hey that decklid looks sweet; how'd you do the edges that are not showing? or is it just a skin?

    .

You may take some flack on the rear bones though :)

Forgot to talk about the frame and suspension. After alot of research I decided to go with a triangulated 4 link in the rear, with wishbones used as the lower links. They are poly bushed at the axle with tie rod front mounts. I wanted some symmetry to what you could see from the side.

Cool! And I can really dig the one page, 38 minute build thread!

  12. Hey bphotrod,

Nice Ride, looks great, what did you use to fill the roof?

I'm slowly starting what you just finished, I had to drive to MASS in Feburary to get the body. I'm just at the point of collecting parts right now and deciding what to run for a mill. I already have a set of wide whites bias ply's, just trying to determine if I want wires or steelies.

I found a 57 caddy coupe deville, used the roof off that for my roof filler. Got a line on a 365 caddy motor that may find it's way between the frame rails this winter.

Thanks, it's been a blast. The trunk hinges are 38-39 Pontiac hinges

Here's a little update from over the winter. Had a few things that needed refining, and a new throw out bearing that went bad. Decided to tear into the body work and shoot some paint. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369836770.311635.jpg
After sanding my fingerprints off I called it good enough.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369836858.313190.jpg
    Went with firemist green metallic,
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369836981.078781.jpg
    Onto reassembly now.

That green looks good on there. I looked a couple of A coupe bodies in Skandia a couple years ago.

Small world, I know the guy that had them. He's wheeling and dealing all the time. I wasn't too sure on the color, it's grown on me though.
