I am a master tech within the marine industry. This article and study have both been proven false since it was originally posted. 95% of my week revolves around fuel system repair/replacement caused by ethanol and the truth of the matter is the blend and origin of ethanol has a lot to do with how well stabilizers work. I recommend using Shell products to my customers because of it's sugar cane base rather than corn, mix that with Pri-G and Startron as a cocktail and life is good. 1olz of pri-g and 2 oz of startron to every gallon of gas is a good formula. I have gas from 2008 that is still as fresh as the day we pulled it from the pump.
