bought my sport coupe body 8 years ago. my old neighbor helped me build the frame. we moved 4 times. it suffered from being ignored (too little time, too little money). it still isn't done, far from it, but yesterday the wife and i had our first drive in a model a/hot rod. if i'd know how much fun it was, i'd started long before i did. after my wife went to bed, last night, i went out to the garage and set on my stool and looked at it. this was my first attempt at building a car, i started before i joined the hamb and learned loads from you guys and girls. i would do things differently now, but live and learn. here's a pic. thanks a lot dick
I remember sitting on a stool and checking out my T just as you desrcibed. I knew there were lots of fun miles ahead and wondered why I had waited so long. Then, I asked myself, 'So, what do I do now?" It was in that solitary moment that I realized the building was probably the most fun. A mixture of triumph and defeat along the path to completion. I'm now planning my next hotrod. You'll have lots of fun with your new toy and congrats on a job well done. P.S. As ryan told me, "That car is begging for a set of bias plys."
I'm thinking about taking your advice(bias ply). What size bolt circle do 16"ford wires have? 5X5 1/2? Also is the bolt circle for a ford 9" 5x4 1/2? Tn thanks rer_239
Quoting tfeverfred, post #14 above.... "It was in that solitary moment that I realized the building was probably the most fun" Yup. I, too, am realizing that after a half-cnetury that the build is more pleasing than the driving. Not to say that driving isn't great, but it's sorta like some (most) of us always think about the next build when one is done.
