Very nice! Your car wears those wires very nicely!

I agree, those wires look good on it fordy standard. Wish I had kept my tudor that I had in 64, or for that matter the one I had in 94.

TerrytheK: Thanks for the picture. I traded a red chopped 34 coupe? for that blue 40 sedan at the 82 nats. 40 was built by Mike Welsh out of Denver. I really enjoyed the 40 for the 2 years I owned it.

A whole lot of greenhouse there but they take on an ugly, flattened look if chopped too much. IMO, just a couple is perfection.

I agree. If your going to chop one of these it's got to be subtle. Otherwise the proportions are all whacked.

No problem. I liked the car back then, still do! It's timeless and it fits the title of this thread perfectly.

If you want a larger copy of that pic without the writing on it you can PM me with your email address and I'll certainly send you one.

  15. Neat car! I really dig the 38 deluxe 39 standard. I tried to buy a 38 Deluxe a while back before I bought my 40 standard, but they guy was absolutely drunk on the price. He was asking 4k and it had no floors, hood, motor stuck, completely untouched barn find. I passed on it and found my 40 in better condition for less money.

Thanks, guys, for the comments on the wires. They are 60's chrysler wheels replated.

I saw a '40 sedan in a magazine recently that blew me away. It was at an indoor car show circa '60, and was candy apple red with white flames and chrome steelies and tuck n roll everything... I can't seem to put a finger on what magazine I saw it in! Anyone have a picture?

Found it but I couldn't find pictures online. It's Barry Hutchings' '40 Ford sedan called "Candy Wagon". I love it.

I don't have a fancy enough phone... It's on page 33 of Issue 55 of The Rodder's Journal, in the article "Angel Hairsville"... On a side note, we need more angel hair at car shows!

I got you covered. And true dat on the angel hair. We also need more tuck and rolled running boards and quad headlights. Which I'm surprised work on this car.

I may end building a "custom" front clip with canted quads for the '40 someday... or just build an almost-clone of the car above... I'm in love!

Totally understandable! And if you could find a McCulloch supercharger set up for a nailhead that'd be pretty righteous too.

Sure would like to buy this one back. Sold to a fellow ion Jerome ID in the late 90's who is no longer with us. Have no idea where it is now. Has two third brake lites in the lower panel beneath trunk. Hard to see them except when lit. Had Weld wheels on it when sold. Seen it?[IMG]

Yep that was a good rig, always ran MINT! I should have gotten it a little lower and put a floor shifter in it but mang Flash did a fine job laying down those scallops. Will we be seeing you at Eli's?

Here's my new rig after a short test ride. Turns out there was only 2 miles left in the clutch, I needed 3. Hello Triple A.
