Love to make it but we blew the engine in our flathead dragster last week at Eagle Field... So we won't be making any runs. I also heard its muffler only cars with no exception, don't know how much truth there is to that but we wouldn't be able to run then... Hate to miss it since I have been going my whole life and my dad has been going since the 70's...

I always have shot a couple of hundred photos for the HAMBers for many years but this year I had a simple question and nobody will call me back, so screw it....

Just got back.

(Warning rant mode).

I try not to be negative since I'm glad this event is still around, but this will probably be my last. The event just lost the vibe and turnout ever since they stopped doing it at LACR.There was a few "people" there that lacked common sense and put others at risk due to their lack of sense.Maybe you could blame it on thier crap genetics,who knows? Reminded me of some of the crap I'd see at the Mooneyes X-Mas party. Point is, that was enough for me.

I'll end on a good note, some pics (not mine) from the better days of the Antique Nationals...

 

had a good time watching some vintage cars and drivers.

The Cam Father was spotted tooling around the pits and as usual a friendly hello and conversation.

Many thanks to the 4 -ever-4 club for putting on a great show again this year, thanks for keeping vintage drag racing alive, I saw a lot of cool cars race'ing there this year I had'ent seen before, it's all aboat keeping the sport alive.

 

Sure wish I could have made it. Be back next year!!

 

Hey, I know that there are more flathead 4 bangers here on the HAMB that should have made it out there. The street legal flathead Model A four banger class only had four entries (again) this year. This is one of the easiest classes to race in, bracket times, you don't even have to break your motor. (Although someone did last year in the time trials). A good light and close bracket, and you can take home the plaque.

 

I was beaten again this year by Crump! How can you beat a guy that runs .004 of a second slower than his dial-in? Well done! Our 4 ever 4 Club is hoping that the Fontana track will have it's sound wall up and running again for next year's Nationals. One reason is that we miss the dragsters!

 

So what exactly was the problem that put others at risk?

 

Other thAn one on track incident, not a bad day at all.
Yea, there were a few guys riding the centerline, but it didn't seem to get in anyones way. No cars had to swerve out of the way that I saw.

Got there just after 8am, left about 2pm.

Will be there next year.
