Used to shoot empty aerosol cans with the .22 rifle for target practice, never tried to retrieve the marble. Just be careful and be sure the can is completely empty so you won't be remembered as "the one who tried to..."
This is where wrist rocket ammo comes from. You play marbles. I shoot vermin. There's a lot of uses for those marbles.
I use a church key, the old pointed can opener, on the bottom, several times til the opening is big enough to get the marble out. Go slow on the first puncture to allow the pressure out.
This just get better, no one has mentioned the string/loop that you used? We always tried to get the hugie or hugeie out of the loop, I could not spell then, still can't!
My buddies & me did the same thing, only in the snow. We'd gather up a shitload of spray cans sitting around in our garages, line em up in the snow & cap 'em. Looked like a giant snow cone when we were done. We'd collect the cans, cut the marbles out with snips when we got home. And when the snow melted,,,,,,,,,,
Painted some yard equipment today and used up 2 cans of spray. Added a nice blue and a green marble to my ever growing collection
I Started Saving Them When I Was In My 30s I Am Now In My 70s. With The Idea Of Setting Down When I Retired And Counting Them. While Thinking That Each Marble Cost Around $ 5.00. Now You Will Pay Over $7.00 For One. And What Could One Do With All Of That Money? Now Days.
Anyone know why the thread referenced above, "Putting the Rattle in Rattle Can" is no longer around? Had some good marble collection photos. Before you say it was off topic, this thread is still here... Anyway, not much new lately, still in the cutting/grinding/welding phase. I did dig these out this morning.
The other thread and now this one have ruined me. I now have a jar in the garage with 5 marbles in it. Various colors from Krylon paint cans. I can't imagine how many nice ones I have thrown away over the years.
It has been awhile and the cooler weather is setting in. How are the rattle can marble collections doing? Mine is still growing. The jar is almost full. Found a few defect play marbles in some cans as well as a marble sized steel ball. Got a few other friends hooked on collecting them.
if I went to someones house and they showed me a jar full of paint can marbles they had collected I would think they were nuts and I'd be right.
I never imagined there would be real glass marbles in spray cans. I figured there were a few small metal B. B.s'. I'll bet I've thrown away a million good marbles. I could retire. Oh wait, I am retired! But I've lost my marbles!
My rattle can marble collection is growing pretty big - I've been collecting them for a while . The guys at the shop think I'm nuts for cutting open every can we use up , lol !
Ha! Makes me smile. Been saving these glass marbles for almost 40 years! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Even made a can puncturing device. Heck, we also got some by shooting 9mm holes in them. Good family fun. Thanks for introducing us to this.
I gave my grandson a bag of my old marbles a few years ago when he was in the 3rd grade. With in a week his whole elementary school was hooked on them just like the 5o's when I was a little kid. I gave him a Crown Royal bag for his marbles. In typical 21st century fashion the school banned marbles as a terrible risk to the health and well being of the children and the marble craze ended. I also got a call from the dick head in charge giving me hell for giving the kid marbles and the booze bag, said I was a bad role model, I told him to kiss my ass! The same guy expelled a 1st grader for rasing his thumb and finger at another kid and "shooting "him!!
I have about 50 (rustoleum marbles all seem to be a light green, odd thing to know isn't it!!? So it's exciting to open a Krylon can! (my first bluesie!) Life is good when the little things are fun and stay little things).. And yes people think you're crazy when you show them your collection of $6 marbles...
