^ Yeah I knew it was designed by somebody non-GM. Its been so long since I read anything about it. Thanks for posting that.

That engine was way ahead of its time. I always dreamed of buying a crashed ZR1 somewhere and yanking out that whole engine, ECU & wiring harness (etc).

That would be an awesome engine for a build.

Didn't Mercury Marine have something to do with casting the block, maybe even Kiekhaufer? My memory is cloudy now.

After reading a the thread, I'm wondering when Pontiac and GMC consolidated with Chevrolet?
Wayne did make a 12 port Chevy head (I think).

Yes there was a 12 port Chevy head. Also a 12 Port Wayne head. Also a 12 port Hourning head. Different from the Wayne. Along with the 12 port Howard and Algon and Skinner heads.

How about a small block with either the DOHC Moser heads (I think Tom McMullen used to have one in his deuce roadster) or the 3-valve Gurney Weslakes

    GMC made 305 and 351 V-6's and a 702 V-12 in the early 60's
Speaking of V-12's, while not technically a Chevy, the 1710 Allison was made by GM ....

At At least its not just another "belly button SBC. Very rarely do you see a SBC that earns a second look because you've already seen what the owner bought many times before.

Someone on here told me those early aluminum (recall) heads never made it on the assembly line....
They were only an "over the counter" option...
I read in a Vette book that those heads were installed on the assembly line...

Mom had a 70 something Pontiac Ventura. It had a 260 cu.in. Olds V-8 in it. Ran great and got 20+ M.P.G. Guess that why you don't see any. Would like to see a hemi head Pontiac or a F.I. Chrysler.

    "Rare Chevy?....like the Ford Ardun?"

Well, I would say the only VINTAGE & AFTER-MARKET (non-GM) Small Block Chevy heads would be the heads Mickey Thompson made in 1967 for his Indy cars. They bolt up to a stock block, run off of a single camshaft in the block, feature 3-valves per cylinder, shaft mounted rockers & ran custom Hilborn injection units. One of these motors is on the cover of July '67 Hot Rod Magazine 565 HP!

Mickey Thompson also made more traditional 2 valve HEMI heads for Ford & Pontiac motors in the 60s. All M/T heads are really rare!
