ummm I think you forgot something. I don't have an answer, but I hope that is a really bad photoshop....
I saw this car at Hershey in the swap meet area last year and it had a placard telling its history. I took a picture of both the car & placard, but I'm not sure where I put them. I'll take a look and post 'em if I can find them.
That was a factory dual grille design tried out by Lincoln design group. Never made it to production.
One similar to this has been posted before, but I can't recall the specifics. I think I remember it was said to be someone in the Lincoln division's flight of fancy that was only a one year (or less) offering, because, well, look at it. (Actually, it sort of reminds me of what some say the Edsel grill looks like.)
I posted about it on the P15 forum......and one fellow produced the pic of the placard. Scroll down to the bottom of the posts and then click on the placard pic to enlarge. http://mopar.pairserver.com/p15d24ph_forum/topic/33163-double-nose-airflow/
Warms my heart to know that in a decade or so, people will look at what a lot of guys on here have built and wonder what the hell were they thinking.
Wow! That was really done! Sorry for questioning you. I should have done some research before opening my big mouth! Doc.
Why Wait??? I wonder that now with out waiting a decade lol , to each their own , not sure they were or are thinking some things I see , well leave it at that .
Lincoln had nothing to do with it. The car came from the Hartung collection, but the front end was one guy's idea of what a custom should look like http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/...rille-lincoln-to-appear-at-hershey-aaca-show/
Don't even think about copying the idea.... It's patented... http://www.google.com/patents?id=sGMCAAAAEBAJ&pg=PA1&dq=willard+morrison&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=1#v=onepage&q=willard%20morrison&f=false
that car came out of the leroy hartung collection from wheeling il the car was built by a guy from the chicago area he is also the same guy who invented the vent window on car .... he also did a packard can't remember his name but im sure u would find it it google
I dunno, first time I saw that picture, I was thinking "Well, double-breasted suits were popular back then, also" Later, Kinky6
