62 Chevy Wheel suggestions?

Hi guys, looking for some opinions.

My car is a 62 bel air 4 door sedan. It has stock steel wheels now with impala wheel covers. I also have the correct dog dish hub caps for it. I'm looking to make it a little bit sportier in the wheel department, but I dont want it to look stupid being a 4 door...

in the 70's/80's my dad had a 62 impala 2 dr 409 and he had corvette ralley wheels on it and I always LOVE the way it looked. I considered ralleys for my car, but feel they may look funny on a 4 door. Im not into big rims/low rider style things... Should I just leave them stock? What do you think?

My vote is stock, makes the car more authentic and classy.

Dog Dish Caps are hard to beat and they repop them too.

 

I like stock, or chrome reverse. But if you do go rally's, (which won't fly with alot of people here) 7's are plenty, 8's look goofy on the front. Look at jpnewlin's avatar for a chrome reverse reference, sweet it is.

 

looks good like that, though those hubcaps were not Chevrolets best looking for that era. I think the dog dish caps would look better, or maybe a full size Corvette cap from the same time.

a nice set of American 5-spokes would look nice as well.... that's how I got it figured.

 

Supremes.

 

Buried one just like this up to the frame cutting across a farmers field- I think looks good as your have it now- nice!

 

Here's my 60 with Supremes. Yours would look just as cool. My car is lowered 3" front and rear. Chrome steelies look cool too.

Rich427...Try dog dish caps with black wall tars. Maybe 409 emblems on the front fenders. Do what you want to do. It's your ride. JT

 

The stock wheel covers aren't my favorite. I'm a big fan of chrome reverse or supremes on these. You could try to chase up a set of stock station wagon/409 wheels and run your dog dishes on it. The added width tucks those caps in a little deeper and it looks good. I've got American Torque Thrusts from the 60's on my '62 with a skinny white wall and I think it walks the line between tough and classy ok.

 

I like the small caps. My dad has this same car but in a mint green color with the Impala caps. Looks good, but I always wondered what would look better. I always thought rallys would look good too. Hmmm, I better fire up Photoshop.

Yeah I would love to put either 15'' rallys or some chromse reverse wheels... I think that would be the ultimate for me on this car...

Anyone wanna trade some chromse reverse or rallys? I have all kinds of stuff to trade for.

I like it better with the dog-dish caps than the full. As far as Rallys, they got their place (got three or four sets around here myself), but I'd pass on running them on your '62. Next upgrade would be CR's or Supremes etc, IMO. Very nice more-door btw.

 

Thanks! I agree I am definitely leaning more toards the chrome reverse Especially now seeing the rallys on my car (thanks Skot!). My dads 2 door looked much better with the rallys than my car would...

 

Here it is with chrome reverse. The pic I found had the caps. If you want one without caps, I'll have to do it tonight. Leaving work soon! shhhhh.....

I have some appliance rims that look just like cragars but I dont like the look of them on my car... They do look nice on that 61 though... just not for me. Thanks
