Any info on this event. I got free tickets and was gonna take my car in. Is it a good show/worth the drive? Anyone going? http://www.nmcadigital.com/2013_event_schedule/pomona_ca_preview/
Not sure about the car show, but the racing freakin' kicks ass. Low 6 second door slammers....what's not to like?
I plan on going. Up until last August when I believe they had the first NMCA event in Pomona, it had been YEARS since street cars were allowed to run down Parker Ave. At this point I'm not sure if I'm going to run one of my O/T cars in the "True Street" class or just go spectate... Only reason why I'm on the fence is the price to participate...$150 at the gate to race in any of the classes for Sat. & Sun. Pre-registering saves you $16.50... On the other hand, it's possible that may not have this event again in Pomona, so I may as well take advantage of it while I can.. As to what classes run, this link should give you a better idea. https://tix.extremetix.com/Online/?siteID=3404&cartID=fe0a88b4-7f8c-46fc-a875-aaab8581f75e In case anyone was thinking of running their street car in the "True Street" class, there is criteria and tests that your car must meet. http://www.nmcadigital.com/cat/rules_purses/docs/nmca/2013/nmca-ts-how-to.pdf
Mostly later model stuff. Not really a "Car Show" - it's drag racing baby! Lot's of muscle cars, not really much of what we call Traditional And Yes, i'm going!
whomever goes, please take pictures (not for sharing on here) if you have photosite to store them. I love this type of racing and the variety of cars in the field. (specially any vegas, mavericks, early novas .... (vegas.....) thanks
Thanks for the post. I was doing yardwork (I live about a mile from the track) and was wondering what was going on -- I could hear 'em from here.
We had a good time up there. It was the first time y block powered coupe hit the quarter mile. 10.15 @ 126 was the best. I cant think of a better track to do it at..
Don't know about Friday or Sunday, but if you had a supercharged or nitrus powered engine, there was NO traction for Saturday. While a coupla 6 sec. cars made it down the track, the majority did not. The car show was layed out better than their last event at Pomona. Overall, a lot of cars...wish there would have been better track preperation.. Mike
don't take this the wrong way, but you left coast guys have it made! it's sunny and warm all year with tons of fast cars and fast girls, and you might not go to a show like this because of traffic??? from somebody who used to live in the frozen tundra where your car show season was really only three or four months long, and i would drive to posie's open house every winter in ZERO degree weather, it looks to me like you guys are spoiled! take advantage of what you have and go to this show! oh, and by the way, i'm spoiled now too. i moved to las vegas and i hit up every show i can in california... i'm makin' up for lost time.
