i was coming home the other night and a god awful vibration went through the car at about 60 mph. i think i threw a weight. the universals are new and the wheels still have thier weights. sound like a good place to start? i wont be able to get under it until next week.

What kind of tires? I had issues like that with my bias ply tires even after balancing. Found a place that did road force balancing and made a world of difference.

I'd jack it up and run it. Watch the wheels and driveshaft for vibrations.

Wheel, tire, and drum vibrations generally come in at higher speeds than driveline vibrations, what speed does the bad vibration start?
