Good luck on taking it backwards, where it should be, like the traditional look with fenders and steel wheels, understand you want to drive it some, and look forward to when you get it back to where you want it.
Kool, nice score. I heard a story about a guy who bought a Brookville and welded in rusty OEM cowl panels and such. Just an idea...
nice, in the right application those are good to have. but its not a race car so its pointless. plus it looks funky
I know it has been a while but finally put a set of smoothies on it and changed the exhaust and steering wheel out. Went with a 4 spoke satin aluminum steering wheel and looks much better. Also bought a Brookville decklid to get rid of the fiberglass one. Paint match took a couple of tries but it`s spot on now. Reinstalled the big headlamps along with turn signals. How can anyone drive a 3-window without signals? There is zero visability out the back on these puppies. Now the flames don`t turn me off as bad but it still needs paint down the road. Still have plans for full fenders and possibly maroon paint with black fenders. I love that `40 ford maroon. Gotta finish my `50 pickup first.
Wow...big difference....those black fenders and maroon paint would look killer! Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Looks really good. Funny how relatively small detail items can make such a big difference. Welcome back to the dark side.
Looks good. If I owned it I'd slap some trim rings on and call it done. That car doesn't need to be screwed with much. Neat car!
Looks great with the new wheels, amazing how such a small cosmedic change can help the overall look of the car, I agree with earlier post the wheels definitely need trim rings. Another cosmedic change I would make is re-painting the flames in a more traditional yellow/orange color when you find a louvered hood for the car, since you'll have to paint the hood to match. Here's a pic of Tom Prufer's '32 coupe with an example of the colors I mention.
Super Traps should not be used on anything. They look and sound way too Billy Ray Cyrus Glad they are coming (or have come) off. The best thing you could do with them is to cut them in half lengthwise with a cutting torch and get them into a scrap metal recycle bin.
I agree, but those ARE the muffler to use when mandated in competition. Think re-sale value, those ugly things ain't cheap. Great coupe to the OP btw.
Cool car.. I had this idea too, but there are a lot of street rods for sale out there that need a serious makeover, but their owners need to come back to earth on the prices...
Again it`s been a while since I`ve been able to get back to this coupe but finally finished my pickup so this project was next. Interior done and the flames are off. Door handles installed. While I had the hood stripped I went ahead and had the sides louvered and jerked out the gear drive. I changed the color of the window frame so it wouldn`t have that fiberglass vibe going on. Had a set of wires made for it so that`s the next step. Gonna leave it a high boy now that I have my 5w back in the stable.
