Removing the oil fill tube Sbc

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 325w, May 8, 2013.

  1. Whats the easy way to remove the oil fill tube in the intake. Don't want to destroy it. Also the engine is on a stand. Ideas?

Tap it a little side to side, wiggle it out!

Warm the area around it with a hair dryer or heat gun. I want the tube. Pm if you want to get rid of it.

I can't remember the size of the socket I always used to drive them out, but I think it was in the 3/4-13/16 range.

  5. I just give them a rap with the palm of my hand back and forth until they loosen up. Pretend it's my ex-wife standing in front of me.

I plug the hole with a Dorman expandable plug.

Use a good size rubber mallet to do the tapping. If it was off the engine you could flip it over and drive it out as heathen suggested. Usually they aren't in that tight so you don't have to bop them that hard to get them to wiggle out.

  8. Bobss396. It worked great. Thought of them and used a shot blow hammer and a little heat. Thanks for the replies.
