34 chev build

Starting a thread on my 34 chev sedan build. Well it started as a sedan but going to finish as a roadster. I dont have the hood, fenders or grill shell I only have the body and frame. I dont feel too bad on cutting it up as i already have a 35 standard sedan.

After cutting to top off I removed the roof sections and assembled them to be the new top of the body.

 

Pics of the flange around the trunk opening and building the new floor. The body is 2 inches lower on the frame than stock.

Rear floor is finished and sealed next is the front floor.

Building the grill shroud. The hood butterflies like the original but with no hood sides.

 

This is going to be one badass car...keep up the great work!

 

Grill fitted to grill shell The grill is made out of chrome tube from a tube grill I had from a 1980 shortbox scottsdale.

 

Bent and plug welded a piece on the back of the grill shell to fill in next to the radiator on each side. Dollied all the edges to give them a rolled edge.

What are the wheel/tire plans?

 

Picked up a tri power setup at Jefferson
Had to take a pic so I can reassemble the linkage after painting.
Painted and cleared motor.
New flywheel, clutch and pressure plate.
Mounted five speed nv3500 and set it in.

 

I am going to run the ones that are on it for now, they are BF goodrich silvertowns.
I have two different wheel patterns 5 on 5 in the rear and 6 lug fronts. I redrilled and welded up the old patterns on these steel slots to match what I need. The bad part is they are 14s. So tires are very limited. I have found a 27.5 inch tall pie crusts but the $500/pair is hard to get over.

those are good tires something alot of people look past is the idea that tires always come round not with pie crusts these guys make sure the tires are perfect or they scrap them

I wasn't sure about this build when you started...but I'm really starting to feel it now. Love that you can still see the lines of the original sedan if you know what you're looking for. Not sure about the grille yet, but I'll just let you do what you do. You made it this far without any help from me!

 

Carbs rebuilt and mounted, also brake lines installed.

 

A few odds and ends to do this week to make the shakedown.
Built my seat. Spent a few nights with the sewing machine.
Shift boot done.
Seat belts in.
Aluminum door and kick panels done.
