Great thread.

Has anyone ever seen a RoadMasters plaque? They must have been Los Angeles, SFV or Van Nuys in the late 1950s?

Nice list, 4 of the Kingsmen plaques on your site (compton) are all from our club, different generations. Traditionally, the president had a polished brass plaque. If you find a pic of one, please throw it up there. There was also a fifth generation of our club where the plaque was shaped like a scroll.

5. A few:

Hey Dennis,

Any from SoCal that have a modified Buick emblem on them? Or SCTA lettering?

(Taken from online)
In 1949, Johansen, Don Clark, Clem Tebow, Ben Harper, Jimmy Khougaz formed the Road Masters car club and affiliated themselves with the SCTA. They adopted the Buick emblem and put it on their club car plaques. Later members of the club included Walt Brown, Bill Robert, Paul Grosso and Don’s brother, Stan Clark. The Road Masters disbanded in the late 1960’s

My plaque in my avatar. I didn't see the Strokers plaque in the St. Louis section although some there were real familiar.
Our club started around 1954 and there still some plaques still flying.
I do remember going to Rod Benders East St. Louis, and Gear Jambers Belleville, Il. meetings in the mid 50s. If any of those guys are still around, speak up.

Wow. Wonder if they had more than one design over the years. Once I locate a past member I'll ask them if one of these are the same club. THANKS Dennis & Bullet Nose....

Story goes club was around in the 40s or 50s, ended on bad terms and a couple people brought back the plaques a couple years ago. Originally they were purple. I have no car finished to run mine on so it sits on a shelf for now.

From the looks of your plaque I'm guessing the name of your club didn't come about because you are drag racers ;)

How often do you have to buy a new plaque?

Yes, that is my rod and plaque. The Chariots Car Club, Santa Fe, New Mexico was active in the late 1950s and early 1960s. I kept my plaque all these years and decided it would have a place on the roadster. First car it has been on in over 50 years. The design represents a chariot powered by a Chrysler Hemi and sporting drag slicks.

22. I posted a pic of my dads earlier in this thread from the 50s. I was thinking about running it on my 62 Unibody. The thing is its never been drilled for holes, and Id hate to do that to something that's over 50 years old.

I actually see a lot of em in this thread that haven't been drilled. Is there a way of mounting these that looks good but doesn't fork em up?

26. Thanks Wayne

The reason I couldn't find it when Frank called was because he neglected to tell me Cam was spelled Kam:)

He called today and put in his order.

Happy Truckin',

Wow!! I helped co found that club along with Porky and Jimmy Jines (owner of California Customs in Bellflower, CA.). Matter of fact, my 56 small window was one of the first to get a late model front chassis conversion at Jimmy's shop. We also put together Don's 56 BBW called "Bad Company" that went on to win more than his fair share of shows.
Small world......who is your Dad?
