This is one of two photos we have up on The Old Motor by Glen S. Cook & Son, Commercial Photographers of Albany, New York who were practicing their craft on these big top-of-the-line 23rd Series 1949 Custom Eight sedans, very possibly at the L.R. Mack Agency.

Always will be my favorite Packard series. I don't understand why people attack the looks of the "Pregnant Elephant" much more so than all the other "envelope" bodies that emerged after the war. I guess I just just see them in the context of their time, but I think they're beautiful. And I'll bet if they'd done wind tunnel tests (as Nash did), the Packard's drag coefficient would compare quite well. They'd unwind well, too, on the pre-super-highway routes .

Yeah, I learned to let 7-Up "de-fizz" a bit before giving it to my toddler son. This after he dropped his little baby bottle a time or two, and the thing would spray sticky pop all over  for me to clean up! LOL.

DITTO, NotGettingRich and Studebricker! Kids today don't know what they're missing, as they don't have the ORIGINAL formulas to taste-test and compare. :( Must be another case of a "new" ingredient (in this case, high-fructose corn syrup) being CHEAPER for the beverage companies, in lieu of real sugar.

YES!!!!! I remember, also, that ZING various rootbeers used to have, whether out of an icy mug or even a glass bottle! (Cans and plastic bottles don't get it.) A&W, Dad's, etc. Good, cold rootbeer would almost make your eyes tear up, what with that little extra "bite"! Ditto Vernor's Ginger Ale. Vernor's used to be a special treat I'd get now and then. Nothing like it! .... Now, even Vernor's is NOTHING like it. :( The clean taste is gone.

The Good Ol' Days seem to have slipped away, even in small but important ways, eh?
