Upholstery Question: Door Panel Pocket

    I'm sure I've seen it done but can't seem to find it now. How do you make a pocket on a door panel? I'm doing my own upholstery work and want to add map pockets to the door panels.

    The panel backing board must be a good one,stiff,so when cord for top of pocket is pulled through a hole at end of each side of top of pocket and knoted or stapled or both, it can take the load that happens when used.:cool:
    There a few ways of doing the design.

    Best pockets are not elastic or corded edge but have a fold down flap and snap or velcro closure.

    Would I cut slits in the vinyl on the panel or just sew the pocket directly on top of it?
