I knew about this Model A 2 door body that my neighbor had, but I hesitated on getting it because I was looking for one in better shape. I was there today, and found that the high winds that we had last week laid a tree across it. Not much left now.
As so many here are fond of saying "That will buff out",,personally,I doubt a buffer would do any good,,I would suggest to start with a chain saw and then a lot of heatin' and beatin' . HRP
That is painful. I'll bet that you will regret this for a long time. It's kind of like when you sell off a car that gets wrecked or parted out. No, you're not the only one who has experienced something like this. My condolences. Sadly, we can't save all of them. Dale Cleveland OH
Mercy killing. Just wasn't meant to be. Maybe your initial decision was the right one. You can spend a little money for a rusted dented hulk and spend loads of money, time and effort to fix it...or spend more money for a better car and come out ahead in the long run. I predict that you'll eventually find a better one and actually be thankful you didn't get this one.
even if it was beyond your ability , if you could have got it reasonable you could have parted it out if need be or moved it through the hamb system , instead its now a casualty of mother nature and the fickle finger of fate ,
Move south... sadly stuff worse than that with a flea markets worth of trash welded to'em are runnin around here.
That stinks, our crappy weather has been wrecking all kinds of stuff lately. But the work you do with that local wrecking yard has saved more parts for the hobby than this tree could take, so don't feel too guilty. I do think you should grab the doors and whatever else looks salvageable though, for whatever reason, doors are super hard to find.
...and one more Model A 'logs off'... At least you know it is still there. I kick myself more when I see one disappear to find out the scrapper got it. Get it before that happens would be my suggestion. LJ
Door looks good, cowl could be usable. If the price is right (free, now?) I'd look it over for usable pieces and have a good time! Heck, if it was free or cheap, I'd haul it home and learn metalworking!
But if he would have got it and parked it next to his house, a tree would have got the car and his house.
It was rough to start with, just worse now. I'm sure he will give it to me to part out. As I remember, there is an original frame still under it. That's worth saving anyway.
X2. I have always found if someone is giving you something or giving you a great deal on something, to jump on it. Even from the giver's stand point. They might be waiting on a reply if your gonna take while at the same time they could have sold it for $ or more $'s.
