That's my 5 window in Larry's first post. I think the headlights should be as low as possible & not much more than the headlight bezel should extend past the grill. Any more than that & they look a little bug-eyed to me. This is just my own personal opinion of course, but the headlights shouldn't be a focus point on a car...

I played with this a long time to get what I wanted...

    This was my inspiration...

But I wanted the upper shock mounts to hide behind the headlights..

I am swapping the 5.00/5.25 front tires for 5.50's.

Goofy looking car. there ,I said it. :)

Im about to enter a world of weird with my headlights..I have 30s bosch NOS lights and they are HUGE, but im running fenders on a 32 pick up truck. the standard dropped type headlight bar wont even come close to getting them where I want, Im going to drop the bar down a hole, and extend it so it sits as low as possible, and as far back as well. I like fendered cars with the headlights tucked back, it looks like a cop out when they stick really far forward to me.
Well , all this depends on RYAN being able to work out which end of a hacksaw to hold..and how to mail the bits overseas..seeing as he has my headlight bar hostage at JJ world HQ!

I should get back to work.:)

What's the "right" distance the light bar should be from the 32 grille in the center?

  15. I like most the cars posted but if the car has fenders I am a sucker for the tried and true dropped headlight bar and big headlights.HRP

I'd say, close! Within a half inch or so.

I'm not a fan of headlights that stick out more than a couple inches of the grille shell

One more factor to consider: Painted trim rings will visually reduce the size of any headlight.

It took me about three tries to get my headlights as low as I could get them and still have them behind the shell as much as possible and not hit the tires.

I miss that car every single day....

  21. Headlight placement is one of those details I spend hours thinking about.

The sedan I just finished - Medium sized and high.

    20170223_120141.jpg
The Chemical City Coupe - small and low.

My latest deuce roadster project - bigger and low.

  22. Weird seeing this thread come back again. Here are mine on the roadster. The girls like them!
IMG_0921.JPG Sometimes I think they are too low and then I think it gives the car an old time tall look.

    Is she laughing at them?
