    "Check this out"

How many of us have been fucked over and by a HAMB member at that. I bought a car last year at the Primer Nationals....The car was very nice and had some very rare parts on it. The car was so nice I bought it and it took me around 4 hours to get the guy to sell it to me. When you saw the car you thought, WOW and I am sure the seller never thought I would tear it down but I did......the pictures will tell the story and this car was around 80k...

Cant believe the car was shit......I was told it had no patch panels and no rust whatsoever. I paid the money based on that representation. It's not nice to fuck your fellow man, you might get hurt real bad.

You took 4 hours to convince him to sell when maybe you should have spent the time checking it out.
Don't see anywhere that he held a gun to your head.

  7. ....and i thought it was just the cars you guys send to Australia got that kind of treatment, seems not!

Threats are a crime. Good thing you posted that on the net.

Hilarious you thought it was like new. Really?

  11. That's not right if the seller truly knew, but this rings in my ear......Caveat Emptor.....

How about pictures when you bought it? I'd like to see what $80K bought. Did the owner build the car himself? Or was the work done by a shop?

If you can buy an 80 thousand dollar car then keep your mouth shut and take the guy to court.... or fix it!

Sure it sucks the guy lied to you, but for 80 thousand I would have told him to remove the door panels so I could see the metal work. I bought a motor "running fine" and it had a hole in the cylinger wall, $500 for me was a big deal. I just made due.

It's sad that people arent honest, but that's what you get for trusting everyone and being a whiner. Suck it up, be a man, and do what you have to do.

Maybe you paid more then you should have for the car. But spending that kind of money. Why would you tare it down in the first place?

You didnt have a magnet with you when paying 80k for an old ford hot rod?

You didnt shine a light down the windows to see the insides of the door skins?

Man, I buy piles of junk and scour over them for a few hours and go back a few times with a cleared mind.

80k??? You should have pushed that guy to pull up some carpet and take a doorpanel off for that kinda money.

Maybe the previous owner legitimately didn't know. I'm sure there's more to the story.

Were you under the impression all HAMBERS are above reproach? If so then I'm guessing it's not the first time you've been seperated from your money this easily...

No, the deal was 80k but the seller got to keep the paint.

  26. don't most 81 year old cars have a few wrinkle's hiding under the paint..... didn't seem that bad to me........80,000 grand wow, just curious was the car built in the fifty's by someone famous ?? is this a known car ? I guess not otherwise you probably wouldn't strip it down...........

  27. So dishonesty (if the OP's story is accurate) is okay by you guys as long as he pays over a certain amount?

Yeah, he had a boner & evidently overlooked some things that should have been red flags...bad job by him; but if the car was grossly misrepresented that's not kosher in my book either.

If I spent 80k on a house, I would have home inspection done.
If I spent 80k on a boat, I would have a survey done.
If I spent 80k on a plane,I would have an annual done.
If I spent 80k on a car.... well you get the point.

Not to mention YOU talked him into selling. As in he took the stupid money you offered. Normally I'm on the buyers side on hamb transactions... not this time
