Did Plymouth stamp the frames in 51 and where? The door tag does not match the title and the registration is 26 years old and says Frame number and the the guy that had it before me owned the car for many years Whats the deal?
good question, but i dont think so. As far as i know the vin is just on the tag at least this will bump you back to the top because now im curious too. jeff
If he told you, it wouldn't be a secret Check to be sure the car wasn't registered using the engine number. Some states did it.
as far as i know Ply. didnot stamp the frame. There were on front door hinge piller post, some years on the right, some on the left
what you can do is put a short block in and use the motor number or the door tag is the body run number. it can be reasigned to use as the vin as its the only one from the factory. is this a Cali built car ? this is what happened to the guy that bought tony B old panel custom.
My 50 dodge had the engine number as the VIN... Until I told the DMV to change it to the body tag number
If the car was built sometime after the mid to late 1930s, then you may find the original engine number stamped on the left frame rail somewhere around the rear wheel kick-up.
