Last week I picked up a nice solid 31 Model A to build an AV8. Today my buddy Steve (toreadorxlt) and I started the chop. We took out 5". This is my first chop. I have done a ton of research and it all seems to be going pretty smooth so far.

The day I picked it up

It was actually a hot rodders project. There was tape marked out for a 4" chop when I bought the car.

    Awesome!

Are you planning a traditional 40's/ early 50's build? I always wanted a Coupe version of the classic A-v8 Roadster.... our open car cruising season is almost as short as yours!

Ha! All the bodies were like this in '55, we had the best starts.

We always did it with the doors on. (chopped and fitted the doors last) My bud was 14, I was 13.

Yup, planning a 40's style AV8 build. I have a '39 flathead and trans, 32 k member, 40 juice brakes, 33 axle and bones, ect. Be running stock grille shell and a hood. Trying to decide if I want to run the '35 spokes or 40 steelies.

    That's really cool, looks great.

Where's the part where you stand back, look at it for the first time, and say "That looks killer!" for 5 minutes with your jaw on the ground?

You must have done this before.:D

It gets old bailing out an open car after a downpour

Haha, Thanks! The other one is my fathers car. Ive been helping him with that and getting him pointed in the right direction.

Ive been searching for the right Model A coupe for myself for a while and finally found what I was looking for in this car.
