Looking to get a pretty simple 2 color vinyl recover job done on a bench seat nothing crazy just wondering what y'all have paid or would pay? Seat and foam are in great shape just need the vinyl. Got one quote and it seemed pretty high in my book but again I have never paid to get it done.
I'm not sure what most would charge for it but I am pricing out the material only and just like anything else, it adds up very quickly. Including vinyl, welting, burlap, scrim foam, hog rings, etc it is totaling up to over $400 - $500 in material alone.
i payed $250 for mine, 2 colors black and glitter silver, tuck and roll. but its a old lady who does it out her house.
I've seen anywhere from 400 on up to 1500. 400 from the local boat guy. 1500 from one of the worlds best. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
There are way too many variables involved in upholstery work. Shop overhead being the big one and then possibly having a "name" trimmer do the work and paying a premium for the show winning quality of the work you expect from them along with most likely premium materials that they prefer to use. We have a local guy who works in a cubby hole shop in town who's bread and butter work is redoing pickup truck seats and he usually has a few sitting in his shop ready to go on the exchange basis who turns out some great looking custom, work at a reasonable price. I saw his work in a car show last year and was impressed with the work before I saw who did the work. I'd say shop around a bit and it wouldn't hurt to take the seat along when you do the price shopping. That way the trim shops can see what they will have to work with.
I just got a seat for a done in one color with new padding for $450 Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I've been happy with Brothers sales and service. Brothers sells a two-tone vinyl seat upholstery kit with matching piping in various colors, for the 60-66 C10 that is easy to install. All you need is hog ring pliars, and two hundred dollars.
If your trimmer has material in stock that you like, leftovers. I bet you can get a seat like a 32 Ford done for $150. Bigger seat like 57 chevy $250-$350. Material that is ordered can easily be $60/yd, 2 colors-1 yd each. A little foam, thread to match, 4-6 hours labor, it can add up!
Well from a trimmer there is a big difference in materials ,but plain 2 colors ,no rebuilding would start at 350,, goes up. But 1500 would get a hell of a truck seat. And I have won awards at Cal expo And Cow palace and had a few in magazines so I am talking from experience. Good luck Jack
I'm doing my own interior and i can tell you the materials are $$$$$ I've seen prices as high as $50 per yard and thats for vinyl. But I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for. A good job wont be cheap. An awesome job is priceless.
I got my bench seat done at a reputable shop out here in black and white vinyl with white stitching for 250. just look around and compare prices if they are all close in price I would go with the better of the shops. its just gonna come down to your budget and remember you get what you pay for!
if its a stock seat could you find a pre-sewn cover? i had a custom tuck and roll leather job just done for 'round $700.
I'm considering this for my 3 window. It includes the seat itself. No idea about the quality of material though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271184629696?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
rule of thumb a trimmer doubles the cost of materials in case he messes up so at least he breaks even on material. same deal with glass, shit breaks sometimes!
