Just for the record.... i have been reading and hearing about stuff like this for years, always with a hint of disbelief, and then-

i get a phone call from a guy that i barely know... he has a car that's been sitting in his driveway for 19 years... mumbles something about a 53 chevy 2 door...he says if i can get it out in a week week and a half it's mine... for free-

well i went there first thing in the morning and this is what i see...
A 2 door 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe, no engine or trans, but the rest is there, 90% of the trim and interior as well... the roof has a dent in it but that's the worst of it.....

Just the other day i was thinking about the next project to take on( Model A pick up is alllmost roadworthy), and whammo.. i get this-

    crazy weird ass shit!!
perhaps dumb luck... good car karma.. or just big feet...either way anyway i'm stoked!

    soooooo... let's see some 51 Chevy"s!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like it, not in too bad of shape. I'm working on a '50 2dr myself. Where are you taking this one. Back to stock, nose high, dropped down, rip the top off... you know yet?

"The flaming Turd"... AKA...., Rusty, bucket of bolts, flintstonemobile,..... Just make one up yourself.... Originally known as "Lady Killer"... Biggest TURD I ever bought, this sucker was ROUGH !

BUT !!!!! One of the most smokin cool profiles I ever seen on a "1951 Chubby"

nothing set in stone just yet... honestly i got kinda blindsided by it..
for now just getting it home and tucked away in my garage will be great...
But, off the Top of my head....
drop in a 235, keep it 3 on the tree, slam it to the ground, a chop, shave and french the headlights... so i guess a bad ass mild custom..
i do know that for once i wold like to have something with new paint and interior.. but i'm a long way from that..(no clear coating the patina)

i really need to focus on the task at hand..

my Model A full fendered pick up that i've been building for the last 3 years.. i'm just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with it.. hopefully driving it this summer(famous last words,...)

so in the mean time i'll be devising a plan of attack...hopefully i'll get my act together and do a build thread with this project.
    so... stay tuned!

Your a lucky guy, did you buy a lotto ticket after?? Whatever you do to the car, please don't clear coat over that rust. At least prime it.

Who cares if he does clear coat it? Of course the guy who spent 10 grand on paint and two years getting it ready for paint would say its stupid to clear it.

Do want you want...it's your car. Great score.

  17. My O/T car has a similar story...second most expensive thing I ever brought home...be careful!
