newnewnewer_023.jpg newnewnewer_007.jpg newnewnewer_010.jpg So starting with the frame, Took it down to the rails and cut out everything in between. Rear end is just a beefy 10 bolt with a posi, set up parallel 4link with a track locator. Front end is Mustang II with tublar arms. Shes sitting on shockwaves all the way around. Front of the frame was notched for the rack, new motor mounts made to accept an old hurst front mount plate, horns lengthened a lil, new lugged front and rear crossmembers, all new center section based around the walton fab tranny cross member, custom made brake pedal and master cyl mounts.... blah blah blah....

I wanted it to still bolt up clean.

First i extended the qtrs and made tails to accept 54 cad lights flipped up with the backup light cut off.

Then i had to cut up the pan to extend it to where the bumper now sat. All the work was in making the bead around the new extended qtrs. so first i made the shape of the bead on the break and then went at it with the shrinker stretcher..

Then I shot the corners down as low as the qtr goes to hide any way of seeing the bumper brackets. hard to explain...

Next was the roof! and i'm currently still working on the garnish mouldings. I have always loved the shortness of the buisness coupe roof in 53 and how long the decklid was. The typical problem I see in every one i've seen chopped is that the qtr windows get tiny. Not a pleasing look in my opinion. I like a chop with some class, some restraint, not just to make the car look chopped. More to just make the car look more proportionate.

My idea to solve the problem with disproportionate qtr windows was to get a 2dr sedan roof to put back on the car. With no luck finding a 2dr car to cut the roof off of, I was lucky enough to find some dude on ebay that would cut the qtr windows out to section into the og roof...
    Pics to come!

I had a few ideas... One was to put a 52 cad hardtop roof on it, but i always hate the way hardtopped cars turn out at the a pillar. Also, I was thinking of sectioning a 58 roof scoop into the roof... after some deliberation, I decided it best to just do the chop with the stock roof and add in the sedan qtr windows.. Layed it out and made the cut.

    Oh jesus. That is incredible.

It's pretty hard to build one of those cars that doesn't come off like "another cookie cutter 53/54" but I'd say you've done it.

    Very nice job.

Then pulled it off and started testing the new qtr windows trying to figure out the most natural place to make a cut through the driprail and down the roof.

Then started fitting in the new windows to line up everywhere. The driprail was kind of a bitch... haha As you can see the sedan drip rail stops about 6 inches short do to the different back window. I didn't like this so I spliced in a chunk of extra driprail from the legnth of the donor windows that I wont be using to continue the driprail down to the beltline.
