Sad to hear that age is taking it's toll on someone who so clearly loves his coupe But what a story, and what a rad coupe! You can keep the Spyder's but I'll take the tires haha!
That is a 56 thru 62 Corvette steering wheel. That's one cool old deuce. I hope you restore it to it's '62 livery.
It was sad, when the guys got it out of the garage, they wheeled him out and he ran his hands over the rear fender, just to say goodbye to an old friend..
You guys are lucky to get that car...even luckier to get it from a friend that obviously took care of it. Even though it's been sitting for a long time, it looks like it's just a wheel/tire change and a replacement small block away from looking like this again: Man, even this show sign is really cool. Even better, you have the photo above with it displayed next to the car. I know you guys will do it right. Congratulations!
Well Mr Bass, I will be leaning on you for a little guidence. On your next Cross country roadtrip you will have to stay in Colo Springs awhile and check it out....
What a great score.....and great story. Sad to think of the old guy watching his hot rod leaving his garage for the last time. Can you just think what was going through his mind as he ran his hand over it.
Will do, I have more pics from bringing it out of the garage and with don and the car. he also has every time slip from CDR and Julesberg as well as the brocures of all the shows he attended including the Sabers show in denver
Not sure why the engine issue got to him. He was gathering more parts then started on his 56 truck, built a 410 Merc Muarader motor for another truck, stated a 40 merc coupe etc. and just figured he would get back to it.
I'm sure Gene will take him riding in it when it gets back on the road. That'd put a big smile on everyone's face.
Hi Nick, That is awsome, super neat find and a cool story and if you need any help getting it back on the road let me know.
I sure hope you will get it back on the road as I know you will and take him for a ride in it. But ya have to take some photos of this great event for us all to see.
