My recent post on Corvette's 60th birthday reminded me of some very important cars celebrating their Silver Anniversary in 2013. When you think about the year 1963, it was the beginning of big change...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Bought a '63 Continental this past Friday, glad to see it made the list. The clean styling must have been a real game changer in the early 60's having just come from the chromiest, tail fins having-est time in automobile history.
The Cortina is a very cool car-- I just think of them more as a track racer than a chopped and lowered custom.
The '631/2 Galaxie 500 tudor hdtp and XL500 were tough to beat and have remained very popular to this day!
Bill Mitchell created or influence the majority of GM cars, which includes the tri five Chevy, the Riviera, the Stingray (the split window was exclusively his, which he told GM that you remove the split window, you might as well forget the whole thing) the 2nd generation Camaro. The real big 3 was Bill, Zora, and Harley.
Great post, I love all of the models listed in the article as well as those posted here. One that I've always loved is the 63 Impala SS. Not a grand departure from earlier Impalas maybe, but something about the 63 is just so right on. Of course, I'm a 1963 model too so maybe I'm just a homer for things of that year. And who can forget the Avanti?
The 63 SWC Vette is one of the coolest cars ever made for sure. I'd love to own one someday !!! Great list.
And don't forget the '63 Nova. Mine's having its 50th birthday this week - assembled 2nd week of April 1963 in Oakland. Just 3 weeks younger than me....
I think 63 ranks up there with 57 as being a great year for cars. The 63 1/2 Ford fastback ranks as my favorite but just about all of that year knocks it out of the park.
