    Lone Star Round Up 2013

I had an amazing time. Thanks to the Kontinentals for throwing the show and everyone who set up all the parties in both north and south Austin. Congress was congested as expected but I found parking a block away and got to enjoy the night. Poodle Dog Lounge was a ton of fun last Saturday night and made for a few funny stories. I'm just glad there were witnesses because I don't think anyone would believe me if I told them. Haha.

I want to thank Jared on here (JJK) for letting me crash on his couch again and for hooking me up with some of Austin's finest eating! I'm having Hoover's withdrawals.. You guys seriously need to hit this "farm-to-table" restaurant up. It was nothing short of incredibly delicious.

Many, many thanks to all of those who were patient with communicating with me. I also got to meet a lot of new friends, Church, the Strohs, HotRodLadyCruser, Earl Schieb, Ben D, 70kid, and many others that I can't think of off the top of my head. Everyone was real cool. There wouldn't be any way to top this year's Round-Up unless I had my own car to drive in. And a better camera. It did a good job this year but I'm still struggling with low-light situations and movement, but most of the pictures are clear enough.

    Enjoy..

    Tuesday night..

I drove out to Bob Owens (Flat-Top Bob) Salvage yard to catch the special screening of Piero's new MFS7. It was cold and wet when I got there and colder and wetter when I left. I met a few new HAMBers, picked up a couple flanges from Neil (Candy-Man.. Thanks!), and finally got to see Bob's humble adobe. Earl Schieb did a great job with Bob's new Buick. I can't wait to see it when it's all assembled and driving.

Well, humble is probably better off a descriptive word for the exterior as the interior was amazing. Neon signs everywhere, cars sitting in their stalls, old toys up on the second floor, all sorts of memorabilia, and company second to none. Jeff Norwell, Coby Gewertz, Coop, Denise, Earl, Ben, Joe, Don, many, many others. There was a lot of people there and just as enough great eating for them. Thanks to Bob for being a gracious host and opening his shop to let us all enjoy Piero's latest.

After Bob's, I left for my brother's apartment in Fort Worth. That was quite a fun ride.. Made it to his place safely at 4:30 in the morning. Stay tuned for what I did Wednesday.

    Wednesday..

I decided to finally make the trip to Antique Auto Supply and see what it was about. From what the web site described, it sounded like an ideal place to find whatever you could possibly need for your ride. It is. My only complain was that it was all at market price or higher. There were a few steals here and there, but for the most part, they were all on the high end of their price ranges. Plenty of NOS stuff still in their boxes however..

    Friday

I pretty much stayed within the swap meet and vendors. I asked a lot of questions, shopped some, and got plenty of T-shirts.. There wasn't much that I could have used on the A. Someone beat me out to a nice set of Hedman headers for the early Chevy. :( John did give me the Franklin mirror that he found. That was real cool of him.. thanks John!

JeffreyJames was kind enough to let me sit around behind his booth throughout the weekend. I thought it was pretty cool since his booth is one of the best looking booths at all the shows. He had a pretty nice view of Bass' booth and his Model A roadster, so I took advantage of that to study it some from underneath some shade.

It was nice to meet yet another Iron Lord, Chris. His coupe is one of the builds coming along in the "Storming of da Steel" thread that Jeff started.
