got a tip from a friend about a Studebaker drag car, he found it in Southwest MN> . the owner said that his brother had it down in Ark. and it used to race at a few tracks down there , so we went to take a look , and bring a trailer just in case , when we got there , WOW there it was , the car has stickers from Centerville Ark. dragways and a few from Thunder Valley in Marion , SD. , it was raced with a Stude 289 and 4 Spd. . not currently in the car but his brother still has it down south from what he says , the car has 2 fiberglass front fenders with it and Fenton 5 spokes , looks like it had a small tank in the trunk but that is not there . anybody remember this car down Ark. way , the color under the primer is a Torquise blue . we did bring it home
Pretty cool looking car! The scavengers car club in the cities here race a stude to, but it's got a mouse motor in it... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Nice find. Studes were a good looking car. Good luck with finding its history. If it was raced someone on here seen it.
If we could find some history on the car we would like to put it back the way it was raced , color , lettering if it had any , etc...... other wise wash it off and dump a motor in it and have fun
I had the same model car sitting outside my shop here for 6 months. It was all original needing alot of work and nowhere near as cool since it was owned by a little old school teacher and not a racer.
hopefully this weekend the kid might try to see whats under the primer , there are a lot of spots just flaking off so hopefully we can find something under the primer
I'm glad to see it has black fenders, or it could be MY studebaker! it's hiding in a barn TOO! It's great to have a friend that finds ALL this COOL shit all over SW MINN!!!
My wife has an uncle not far from the Centerville area who very well may remember. He's been racing for the last 50 years in that neck of the woods. He is currently in the hospital, just had surgery Two days ago. When he is home and on the mend, will send him the pics. See if he remembers the Stude. Johnnie.
