Well I am new to forum but not to cars trucks and racing . I started building this truck for my pops, we started it together like many others. But my friend mentor and father is not here with me anymore. Cancer is the devil (being nice) and I lost him about 1 1/2 years I have had trouble even going out to the garage to work just to many memories. He had a bucket list we got some of them done but I am going to finish a few for him and myself, I have three big ones to cross off the list. Hot Rod Power Tour , Bonneville, and a Cubs game at Wrigley field. And I am driving this truck to all of them

So I have slowly been getting back out to the garage but realized when I get stuck I don't have him to call or go over the ideas I had. So I see there's a ton of knowledge on this forum I have been lurking for awhile. And thanks for reading along.

I am trying to keep this thing cheap I am in it right now for next to nothing.

52 cab and front clip (was a flat bed fruit/veggie truck )
S-10 chassis I traded for some coils springs I got for free
    SBC I got for free
    700R4 I got for free

Well I plan on leaving the patina on the truck still has the logos from the fruit and vegetable company on the doors but with a nice custom interior white pleated seats headliner and door panels with orange piping and small metal flake orange with a gold base

As for the drop I don't think I will touch the front. But bring the rear down. So it is not so raked

  5. Sweet start man. I always wanted to build one of those little trucks. They're just kinda different and not done to death like Fords & Chevys. Sorry to hear about your dad man. I lost mine a few years ago and never realized how close we were till I didn't have him to talk thing over with anymore. Anyway, welcome to the loony bin and good luck on the truck and the other things you mentioned. There is an almost infinete pool of knowledge and expieriance here. Of course, there's an almost infinite pool of BS too. Personally, I almost never have any GOOD advice to offer but that never stopped me before. One thing I will suggest is thinking about things YOU want to do too. That is do what ever you need to as a rememberance of your dad but don't forget to do things you want to do too. Good luck on the Dodge.

Doing a 53 right now same way CHEAP!!!! S10 with 4cylinder 2.2 and 5 speed gets 28 mpg right now so it wont suffer much with heavy metal on it.Will update photos as it goes also. Grille was gone so cut down a corvair front bumper and have added 41 chevy bumper guards to it for the toothy look. When it comes to ugly you ave to love the old dodge trucks

  17. Nice project...nice story.

I still call my dad all the time for advice.

The Dodge trucks from that era fit the bill of being so homely that they're awesome looking. They make great little lowered down shop trucks.

I wonder if anyone makes a bolt-on IFS for them.
