I saw this social group here on the hamb. And thought it was interesting that rattle cans had glass marbles in them ,, I thought I would share this with the whole board ,, this is my first one ,but I m pretty sure I m gonna be cutting open every can I empty from now on this one looks black but as you can see its a kool dark blue I m gonna start a jar and keep it on my shelf as a conversation starter in the garage
I remember seeing another thread on these recently. I always thought they were just little steel balls. Edit: Slow fingers. . . 117harv found it.
3 steelies for that red one---I have a gallon jug full of these marbles, used to work construction (35 yrs) and would go through 2 - 3 cans of marking paint everyday plus what I picked up off of the job. Had a new guy that was going to get the marble before me and didn't know how to open them without getting sprayed---that kid was fluorescent orange all day---he couldn't hide nowhere
Rickybop, in Indiana in the 50's we called them "clearies". Nobody using "steelies" was allowed to play because of chipping other marbles. We took our marble games very seriously back then.
I have a big jar of these as well. I got one of the guys I work with hooked on them as well. I have red, blue, green, black & clear ones. All gathered from spray bombs. Just have to find a use for them now...
I used to collect marbles and play hell out of 'em in my wee years. not spray bomb marbles, but marbles none the less.
i read the whole old thread and thank you for showing it makes me feel good to know the things i think are kool arent too wierd
A red jumbo purey? Cool! Yeah...marble terminology was regional and changed a little over the years. My era was the early '60s. I've checked out modern marbles...they suck. Actually, these rattle can deals look more like vintage marbles than anything I've seen in recent years. Oh, for the old days. My most memorable marble game. Recess after lunch at school...we both had jumbo cat-eyes. My turn...a very long shot, at least 20'...through the air...no rolling. Could not believe I hit it. But whoa...mine smashed into a million pieces. His stayed intact. A bag of marbles was like a bag of gold to us back then. Status symbols...even the marble bag itself. Sorry for the hijack. Back to rattle cans...lol.
Got a green one out of a Krylon Flourescent pink can today!!!! Crazy reflection on a white napkin too!!!!
My collection of clay marbles (nibs) that my dad had played with, my marbles that my kids played with and the ever growing collection of rattle can marbles that my grandsons now play with.
OK. So now we all know they put marbles in spray paint cans. But did you ever wonder how marbles were made? http://www.dump.com/howmarbles/
Glass marbles , known to the scooter world as "anti tailgating devices" the "disappear" on impact , at least that's what I hear .... or have heard of .... don't ask don't tell lmao we know nothing
Wow! Back when I was a punkass kid, shootin' marbles was what we thought recess was for, and we always played "for keeps" my brother made me a bag for my marbles out of an old baseball mit. that was a long time ago...
