I'm once again bogged down with a research conundrum. I want to include this ('32?) banger engine in a book I'm doing for Cartech on vintage speed parts. I shot it in the pits at last year's Speed Week, but couldn't find the owner to get details. Anybuddy know this car??? If so, thanks in advance for any HELP!

The custom California license plate reads, "GOW JOB".

    Anyone? Beuller?

  3. Body is a 26-27 T. Motor is a "B" banger with a Zepher intake, dual Strombergs, and a Cragar OHV conversion. Maybe that'll help.

Well, this is embarrassing, but all I can tell you is that it's a late ('26 or 7) T roadster. I'm hip to the banger having Strombergs on a Zypher manifold (obvious), but am not sure that's a Cragar overhead job. The photo I posted here is as much of the body I shot, so this is all I have to go on.

The cowl lettering thanks Jim Culbert, Robby Ivy and Bruce Crower for helping with the car (Culbert and Crower would make pretty nice helpers!). I Googled Robby Ivy, but no dice. That's when I tried the HAMB...

Thanks GWhite. Looks like their valve cover, but don't know what's under it until I talk with the owner/builder.

I'm confident that some HAMBer knows the owner. Just kicking myself for not shooting the whole car - DOH!

No help on who the car belongs to.

You can use mine and I can fill in the info blanks for you if you are looking for vintage 'B' banger speed shots

Thanks 327-365hp (can I call you 327 for short?)!!! That's definitely the car (thanks for shooting it, Mazooma!). I'll give this thread a few more bumps, in hopes that some HAMBer knows the proud owner posing with it.

Once again, the HAMB does for me what I can't do for myself. I'm so grateful!

Scott/327: Yeah, Doug is one of several gifted photo mongers on the HAMB - his shots may save the day for me. And yes, you DO have to get to B-ville, before it's declared off limits to motor vehicles (I'm amazed it hasn't happened yet).

Jimmy B: Nice shootin'! I just finished a book on overseas racers who come here to compete. It didn't occur to me that photographers do the same thing!

Thanks Bobby Sox. Found that online yesterday and thought I'd get cute and run the license plate. Turns out, that's not a free service, so I'm outa luck there.

I can still use the shot I took of the engine if I want, but it would be nice to get the story on it, so I have something of value to say in the caption. Would also be nice to give the owner a heads-up that his car's going to be in print.

I'm sure it will work out however it's meant to.

    Thanks again,

    Scotty

(48 hours later) Hmmm... No California HAMBers know this car?

  27. Maybe change the title to "Who owns this car? 1927 T Modified, Gow Job from California"
