First off i love my whip. Its great. Not many 57 fords around so its fun to roll up in something different. This was my first old car and i learned so much. So thats cool. But now im at th point of trying to make it look good and its just hard to swallow that its not worth the money. Sucks to say but its true. I did 460 swap rebuilt the rear and the trans and it runs like a beast! Great power tons of fun. But the body sucks! Rust bubbling on the front fenders and rot under the rain gutter. Just cant justify the money to fix. Kinda want to buy a house. Im not a body guy and dont really have the space to do or i should say learn body work. So im at the point where im thinkng of just rattle canning the damn thing. (Can do that!) Any way thats my rant. Thanks for listening

Well cowboy (or dominatrix), if you get a house with a garage then youd have a place to do the body work.

Whatever we choose to call our rides, there are always times when we have other responsibilities and cannot afford to do the things we want to do with them. Other times, we just want to sell, set-fire-to, or piss on the damn things. Like any relationship, it will always have ups and downs. Do what you can, when you can.

try to fix some of it ---you may find it is easier than you thought...

  11. They use to make a piece that attaches to the gutter or drip rail on the car to hook the whip to keep it from swinging around.:D HRP

  12. They always get frustrating I remember times where I just wished that my Dodge would just disappear! Didn't care anymore, then I would come to my senses and get back into the groove. Just give it time and you will get your second wind and be ready to jump in there whichever route you decide to go.

Maybe buy a better body and switch your dive train into it. Then peddle the bad body.

    My 2¢.

Not a bad idea to swap bodies. Just got to find one. Not to many around here but might be worth an out of state ride

  20. I have some news for you. There are NO rust free 57 Fords just sitting around. I bought my first 57 Ford in 1963 and it had Rust already. I have had several over the years and currently own 3 - 57's, 1 - 58 and 1 - 59. They all have or had Rust. If you want a good one fix what you already own and move on. It's part of the Old Car ritual.

You are correct. A whip cannot have a bit of rust on it. Just a bad paint job

However a hot rod can get away with it old paint, bubbles, rust, were and tear, etc.
