Looks like I found the small vortex on the lobby of the motel where the "free wireless Internet" actually reaches so I will load up as many shots as I can before the rest of the crew comes down.

We are traveling with John Denich and his dad jack and Bomonster and his wife bomonsterette. John is driving his car "the grapevine".

Yesterday we stopped in Magdalena Nm and found so many cool old buildings. We also found the local blacksmith (and mayor) who gave us a demonstration and told us about the history of the town. Too much to tell here but I recommend you look it up. He suggested we take a small detour to see the Kelly mine. We did and it ended up being a couple of miles of dirt roads and a hike to get up there. John and his dad waited at the end of the paved road for us because "grape" don't do dirt roads. We were gone a couple of hours and when we returned they had left. With no cell service we just figured they got tired of waiting for the rest of us.

Some time later we got a call from john Telling us just that and we agreed that we would probably see them in wellington on Tuesday. Fast forward to later that night as we were driving north on 41 in the dark looking for a motel for the night we came upon John and his dad broken down on the side of the road. We think it is a bad coil and will be on that mission in a minute.

We figured out what is wrong with johns 50 Chevy. His pick up coil had melted itself to death. Bruce and John had to drive back to Albuquerque to get the part. Here they are leaving in the "parts truck" aka Acme van.

sounds like another Pertronix failure on the 'vine...had a few before..
and noticed no wheelcovers on this trip..The last time it was in Texas;
lost one of the Olds Fiestas somewhere along I-10

Earlier today as we were getting johns car fixed one of the Beatniks who lived in the town pulled up to us and said he had a metro van. We had to go by and see it. Willy was a cool dude (guess you gotta be to be a Beatnik).

This thread is just a taste of what it's like to travel with JM and ACME. John knows what it means to drive fast and then slow down to take in the world. He also knows cars (and large Metro vans) are meant for adventure and that you sometimes need to go off the map to find it. He always manages to see the positive side of strange people, odd places and unexpected situations. After a couple thousand miles of following him I'm just now beginning to understand that the fun really starts when you get out of the car. Thanks for the memories JM, BO
